Cool PORSCHE 996 On Track Vid - Summit Point

I just did a track weekend with PCA at Summit Point in West Virginia. I am in the Blue Group for them (although on the West Coast I am "C" Group solo for HOD and Audi Club). I was one of the fastest cars in my group (fastest if we don't count time lost on the straights... haha!).

I like the 996, it's a challenge to drive but once you figure it out, you can really exploit it's benefits. That being said, the approach to certain corners is going to be a lot different than some cars.

My car as a ton of upgrades to bring it into full DE capabilities (some are in my signature) and the only place where it REALLY lacks is power. It's frustrating to catch a car only to get yarded on the straight. haha.

Here is my best lap @1:28.6 which is pretty fast for a street 996 3.4.

BTW, I bought the Ram Mount X and it sucks. It shakes like CRAZY. My GoPro is MUCH better but I didn't have time to set it up. I use Harry LapTimer with a Kiwi3 OBD2 which also had issues with speed and gears, etc.

Since this is a forum, I'll leave some questions for discussion:

Those who track hard, what are your coolant temps? I had to run the heat on full blast. Wondering if I should run 1 step colder plugs? I have a CSF center radiator with stock side radiators.

FWIW- My instructor runs a spec 996 race car and in his sessions his car never got above the 0 in 180. He was 5 seconds faster than I was. He's on slicks (and holds the Summit Point lap record for the 996 spec car) with a 2690lb car. Mine is around 2800 on Hankook RS3's. Same width tires, but I believe his had a slightly smaller sidewall profile.

1999 996 3.4 with GT2 bodykit.

Fun Fact- Car was much faster with faux side vents covered (they go into the fender but have no exit).
