No forgot to take picture before but it was the usual on the driver side, probably a watch or bracelet hitting it... The casting imperfection are only seen once the parts were sandblasted... Still not sure what AM is using but it is good stuff, it was like a rubberised black primer followed by silver base and finally the top coat. Lets put it like that, it took my 7hrs to strip the paint completely from these parts, I didn't have to do the inside but you know while I was there I thought might as well do a proper job.
Well 600 Wet sanded is complete, starting to look pretty good... I temporarily put it back together to see the look... Hope to have 800 grit completed tomorrow if times permit
Well had some time this weekend and was able to get both 800 and 1000 done, it's hard to show how well it's coming but here are a few pictures to show the change in reflection from 800 to 1000... only two more to go... 1500 and 2000
Just finished the final wet sanding at 2000 grit, forgot to take a picture of the 1500 grit but... it is hard to show the reflection but I think I got a good angle. Next is start polishing...
Finished to polished one of them this afternoon, re-assembled it and applied the AM logo. I spend about 50hrs to do both of them and less then $100 in materials... I know I named it Winter Project and the official winter hasn't even started yet, oh well maybe I will do the same to my door sills as they are scratch also...
Let me know what you guys think, my wife and I are very happy with the end results but I will probably get them clear coated to keep them nice.
