Hi Ben,
Those turbos were great and are on a lot of cars. Going up to the Alpha compressor wheel will give you a smoother delivery of power and a solid 50-75 more ho without pushing them too hard. They are capable of a little bit more but where the 16/24 becomes uncomfortable beyond about 575 hp these are very comfortable at 650...Crank
Here's a couple from various tuners and set ups. There's one in there that you can see him crazy torque spike. Customer put methanol in himself. I'll have to dig up more we haven't had 996 is on the dyno in a while. The set up is solid. Feel free to give me a call to chat about it.
How many ft-lb max to stock rods at the right range of RPM? I have heard that around 620 is ok. Any experiences?
620 should be in the ballpark with a good tune. As a data point, here is an old dyno of my K16s on stock internals, 1.25 bar, 91 octane, 100cell RUF exhaust. Ran it HARD at the track like this for 2years with zero issues. Torque was specifically detuned down low to protect stock rods with peak torque of 631 ft.lb at 4600. When the engine was taken apart, everything looked great including rods. After we rebuilt the engine and added rods, torque was increased another 50lbs and shifted 500 rpm left. Good programming tailored for your specific use is the key to a healthy engine. Bad programming on the other hand will blow your engine even with less torque. Sam will take care of you for sure....

These cars had cats by the way. On the first dyno the power is a little shy coming in but that's 91 oct on a hot AZ day.
Hah cheers J
Hey Sam,
Those turbos look great. Slick waste gates! Quick question, why are all the dynos cutting off at 6300-6700 rpm? Redline should be 7000-7200 no? Just curious what happens to the HP/TQ curves in the last 500rpm at redline. Hope all is well on your end and 2017 is treating you well so far!

This is common, it's generally the guy running the dyno not wanting to blow up a $30K engine as well as not knowing the rev limiter is lifted.

Thx pwdrhound!
I dont have k16 anymore. I use now k24 with some freaking new milled compressor wheels size 49,5 mm (guess stock k24 are 42mm). The car gets tuned tomorrow and i know the Torque gets limited to 620. So all good. 1.5 bar boost...yeehaa!
