Should I get Extended warranty on 2015 Panamera Turbo
Should I get Extended warranty on 2015 Panamera Turbo
My CPO 2015 Panamera Turbo is expiring soon and apparently I have to purchase the extended warranty by March 1st or its too late to after or something like that. Im not sure how many more years I will keep the car so not sure if it’s worth the $5 or $6k for the extended warranty. My car currently has 22k miles. Haven’t had issues yet but are these cars known to have problems? A colleague at work at a 2011 Panamera and had it for 7 years without any issues. Any recommendations on warranty options if I should get one? Thanks!
This is a very personal question. FOr me, I would not pay the money. I developed distrust to many mechanics. IMO, no one can do as good a job as I will on my own car, since I am only one that will care for it as much as I feel it needs to be cared for.
So far, experience has been fantastic. Did some DIY work, saved probably close to 20k total. Hope to keep this car until forever.

No. If you are unsure about keeping it, then you are paying $4k+ "just in case". Based only on that, I'd say you should self-insure. If you get hit with a $2k repair, you may decide "it's time to sell."
Another data point. I had a 2010 Turbo which I bought at 60k miles. It was CPO. That car had a lot of problems. I suspect dealer incompetence/inattention was responsible for at least 1/2 of them.Luckily it was CPO, so even though my problems didn't always get fixed the first time, I didn't have to pay. Total warranty coverage on that car over 2 years and 20k miles of ownership is (estimating) $12-14k easy. Based on my experience with that car, I'd wholeheartedly encourage you to get a warranty.
BUT, I now have a 2016 GTS - bought at 40k miles off-lease with only one previous owner. I'm SOOOOOO much more confident with this car (not to mention the transmission is noticeably better than the 2010). Based on my experience with this car, I'd say "no - they are rock solid".
Finally, I am friends with an exotic car indie mechanic (was Porsche dealer mechanic for a while - now has his own shop). He is a huge fan of the Panamera re: lack of problems. He felt guilty after encouraging me to buy the 2010 turbo after I had all the problems I did.

I did my own air suspension, replaced the upper and lower arms, did maintenance on my own, made diys for it all. Saved thousands and car is rock solid knock on wood. Love it. For 4k, i would do my suspension 3 times over. New air shocks come with lifetime warranty

But if you don't feel like you're mechanically incline, you can always search for a reputable shop that specializes in these type of cars

Mighty kind of you, Patrick. Thank you. You have a PM.
The best warranty I found was from my local Porsche dealer, Bob Moore, in Edmond OK. $3800 - 0 deductible (for repairs made at his dealership; $100 deductible elsewhere) and 7 years 48,000 miles.
