OK, Now I am pissed!

Let me know what you guys think.

I purchased my 2006 997 cab from Rusnak Porsche/Audi in Thousand Oaks. I paid MSRP for it so there was no haggling or wheeling and dealing going on. After we wrapped up the paperwork, the salesman said that he wanted to write down my address because he was going to send me a Porsche cap and keychain. I told him that I already had a hat and keychain so if he could send me a set of clear sidemarkers I would appreciate it. He said no problem.

Obviously, the issue here is not the value of the clear side markers. The issue is that I did not order a set because I was anticipating a set from the dealership. I have called him on 3 occasions for an update on the lights. He said that they were on backorder and he will send them ASAP. Now if he had forgotten about them, he had 3 reminders. Now 2 1/2 months have passed and I have not received the markers. I called the parts department today and they said that they had them in stock but sold the last set today. If I wanted a set he would be able to get them within 5 days.

Now that I have that information, I am pissed. It's not the money, it's not the inconvenience, it's the principle of the matter.

What would you guys do if you were in my shoes? I have now bought 2 cars from this dealership. My '03 BMW 745Li and my Porsche.

Tell someone else, maybe the guy that you talked to on the phone...that your salesman told you that he would give you a set at no cost.

Then you should surely get the markers in a week or so!

Did you see what I said in your hawaii thread about the Grand Wailea? You really should go to that hotel...everyone else agrees

Thanks... for the hotel recommendation. I told my wife and she is going to try and book it tonight. Is it really booked 8-12 months in advance?

Anyways, I could care less about the markers. I can pick up a set from my local dealership. I just haven't because I have been expecting a set. I guess what I am asking is, what would you guys do? Complain? Let it go? It just doesn't seem right to me. This is the first time I have paid MSRP for a car so maybe that is why I feel so burned.

They have around 2000 rooms...but boy they sell out fast! The hotel is just so popular, it really is a good thing from their perspective obviously.

Yes, the better you book it the better... might have to wait on a waiting list. It is worth the wait though!

This would drive me nuts...

People need to do what they say they are going to do.

Call the owner and present the situation as you have here. If he gives a s_hit, you'll have them the next day. If not, don't do business with them again.

This salesman clearly does not realize that he has only one reputation in this world and that situations such as these will tarnish his credibility.

And that's my morality post for the day.

That sucks!

My dealer installed mine before I picked the car up, no charge! And I paid a lot less than MSRP.

I'll buy you sidemarkers if you buy your next car from Carlsen

btw, been to Grand Wailea- its the best hotel I've ever been to, the pools and slides are awesome. There is a bar in the pool, they have a unique water elevator and lots of hidden hot tubs connected to the pool. There is another pool in front of the main building, that is adult only, so its quiet/peaceful and they are very good at taking care of things. A quick drive into town and everything needed is right there

Order the clear markers and send the bill to the sales guy. Next time, buy the car from another sales guy just to **** this person off.

Wink Go to the parts dept

When their in stock go inside to the parts dept...
Tell the guy you want a pair of clear sidemarkers then tell him your salesperson promised them to you upon purchase...have them call your' dude' get authorization (i.e. embarrass the guy) which he would be an idiot to say no if your there on the spot..
and hopefully walk out end of story....

goodluck...just my thoughts

similar thing happened to me a year ago when i bought my wife an acura. but it was over a keychain. in fact, they forgot to installed an option i bought, and promised me a key chain to make up for another trip back to the dealer (50mi one way).

i called the guy 3 times when the key chain didn't show. he promised to meet me at the dealer during the next service. long story short, the f******* wasn't even there and no instruction left for my precious key chain. (another 100 miles on the new car)

i made a scene at the sales floor. there were few people waiting for this guy and i gave them an ear-full. finally another sales person offered to get me a key chain which i finally took home.

anyway, my wife doens't even use it and prob threw it away. but it's the principle, and i was going to get my key chain not matter what!!!!

i am a dumb ***..
