16-Year Enthusiast Ownership | No-Expense-Spared Development
Some cars simply pass through our garages. Others become part of our story. This V8 Vantage has been with me for over 16 years, and it was the first true enthusiast car I ever purchased. Over that time it became far more than transportation—it became a long-term project, a labor of passion, and a car I carefully developed into what I believe is one of the most thoughtfully sorted V8 Vantages you will find today. It has been meticulously maintained, obsessively documented, and carefully upgraded with a philosophy of improving the driving experience while preserving the character and craftsmanship that make Aston Martin special. The only reason the car is now being offered is simple: my collection has outgrown my garage. To make space I will be selling this Vantage along with my manual CTS-V wagon as I transition into a DBX 707. For the enthusiast who appreciates provenance, careful ownership, and a properly developed driver’s car, this is a rare opportunity.
Ownership & Care
This car has lived its entire life as an enthusiast-owned, meticulously maintained example. During my ownership it has always been kept in a heated, climate-controlled garage, which is reflected in the exceptional condition of the interior materials, rubber seals, trim pieces, and paint. The paint has been protected with full frontal PPF, and the finish remains extremely clean with no towel-induced swirls or halos. I never towel dried the car—washing was always done with a foam cannon and two-bucket method, and drying was performed using a heated and filtered Master Blaster, eliminating contact with the paint. Oil was changed every year regardless of mileage, despite the car averaging roughly 1,500 miles per year during my ownership.
The car comes with an extensive three-ring binder documenting more than 16 years of stewardship, including:
- Complete service and maintenance logs
- Parts receipts and installation documentation
- Communications with suppliers and specialists
- Aston Martin brochures, press materials, and historical documents collected over the years
The Philosophy Behind the Build
This was never meant to be a typical GT-oriented Vantage. My goal was to enhance the car dynamically while maintaining its Aston Martin character. Over the years the car has been carefully developed with over 200 pounds of weight reduction and power increased to just over 390 horsepower at the rear wheels. Every upgrade followed a simple rule:
OEM where possible — best-in-class where OEM did not exist.
A great example of this approach is the lightweight seats. Rather than using generic upholstery, Cobra sourced the exact Aston Martin Obsidian Black Bridge of Weir leather used in the car directly from Scotland. Bridge of Weir supplies Aston Martin’s highest-grade leather and is widely regarded as the finest automotive leather available. The seats were stitched to perfectly match the factory interior stitching, and two sets of inserts were produced:
- Matching factory Alcantara (identical to the headliner)
- Matching Bridge of Weir leather
Driving Experience
The result is a Vantage that feels far sharper and more responsive than stock. The increase in torque and power will easily light the traction control in second gear even with warm tires on a dry road. The weight reduction—especially unsprung weight—combined with Nitron adjustable coilovers, forged HRE wheels, and lightweight two-piece rotors transforms the car’s response. Turn-in, braking feel, and overall composure now feel much closer to my Ferrari Scuderia than a factory Vantage. Visually, the stance and presence of the car also stand apart. Even today it turns heads, stops people in parking lots, and draws attention at Aston gatherings.
Original Parts
With the exception of the rotors and seats, I retained the original factory components for all modifications, allowing the next owner the flexibility to return the car closer to stock if desired.
Modifications
For enthusiasts familiar with these parts and suppliers, the level of investment in the car will be clear. The cost of modifications alone approaches what I am asking for the car.

The car currently shows just over 53,000 miles, yet presents much closer to a 10,000-mile example. Everything functions exactly as it should, and the car has always been maintained proactively rather than reactively.
Closing Thoughts
As a collector myself, when I look for special cars the single most important factor is always the owner behind the car—how it was cared for, how it was maintained, and the philosophy guiding its development. This Vantage represents over sixteen years of careful stewardship, thoughtful upgrades, and obsessive documentation. It has never been neglected, never modified impulsively, and never treated as disposable transportation. It has been owned, maintained, and developed by someone who truly loves cars. For the next owner, this is an opportunity to acquire a deeply sorted, enthusiast-developed V8 Vantage without having to spend years—and substantial expense—bringing a car to this level.
I hope it finds its way to someone who appreciates it as much as I have.
I have lots of pictures and video walk throughs of the exterior and interior of the car that are too challenging to load on this site. For a serious buyer I will happily share any/all of them!

Hey Jake/all- took a 10% deposit last week following a gentlemen flying out to look at the car. As of now it’s sold pending funds. Will let you know if that changes. Thanks!
