New 996 Turbo low price
I'm guilty of having my '01 with 29K miles for sale at $69K. Its listed in the 'For Sale' section. I'm pricing it aggresively because I'm relocating to Charlotte, NC and I don't want to risk damaging it during transport. I want to sell it eventually anyways and I figure it'll be easier to sell it in SoCal than Charlotte.
I had a fellow 6speeder come look at it tonight for his buddy. I'm hoping it goes to him because it'll be a good home.

Funny, my sales guy that i deal with, when i told him i wanted to come and get a 997 and trade in my car, told me to wait until next year, i would be able to get a turbo for the low 60s and to hold off... that convinced me to wait until next year to get my next one....
I guess a 4-year old Turbo depreciating at about 1K/month ends up about where it is. For most cars the depreciation graph is a linear, tapering line with the highest point at 1 year and then starting to level off after year 4-5. I'm guessing that the Turbo's should start to level off soon. As soon as the second (or third) owners lay there hands on them which should be happening right now, the supply will dry up and prices should stabilize a bit. I'm not so sure that Porsche will ever make another car that doesn't depreciate like mad.
The 996 turbos will only go so low. They will not keep going down. I doubt they will go much below mid 60s, for a decent one, any time soon. I would think most people would opt to get a TT, even if it is a 996, if it is less than the price new 911 or used C4S. Once a any car, bit Porsche or Feerari, gets close to $ 50k or low $ 60k range, that brings in a whole new potential market so demand will catch up with supply eventually on these things.
Definitely don't buy Porsche's as an investment. Buy them to abuse them.

Further, I agree that the value will likely hold in the 50's -60's for a few years. If so, not too bad of a hit for driving a car like this.

Maybe the price is low due to the funky seats????
Whatever it is, it hurts!
Just a thought.

A red 01 TT recently sold on ebay for 60k. The buy it know was 65k.
I agree with kris on this one, it will bring more enthusiasts into the fold. I may just be looking to buy one in the not so distant future.

Bottom line is that Porsche isn't concerned into their vehicle re-sale values. Pure profit. They made a lot of 996TT's, the prices are now in the 993TT neighborhood. I rather have a 993TT for the same money. Less weight and same performance for the most part strock. Plus there less of them. Kinda makes you wonder when you bought one new for 110K or so and now almost anyone can lease one for less then 1000 a month. At 65-70k that's the same price as an Escalade or Z06. Not what they used to be as far as bragging rights, I see at least 3 a day on the 101 fwy. Oh well, better than a sharp stick I guess?
