New 996 Turbo low price
New 996 Turbo low price
I follow most sports/luxury/exotic car pricing and saw a new retail low advertised by the last detail in this week's AutoWeek. It was for a 2001 with 28,000 miles and it was $73,000 ish. This is the first retail car I've seen in the lower 70's. It doesn't make much sense for this car to be priced there or any lower but we'll see.

That's what happens when you flood the market!
Then throw in a stock market crash and a continuing bad economy and prices drop like a rock.
You can get an early 996 C2 for $30K. Even 993's go for that much!

IMHO, the 993s are holding their value a lot better. Look at the prices for 993 TTS - they're within 10% of the original price. 1996 993 are higher than 2001 996s - it's not about what car is better - it's about how many are out there.

I looked at the car The Last Detail is offering for $74k. Car can be seen here.

Maybe the price is low due to the funky seats????
Whatever it is, it hurts!
Just a thought.

I like those seats and think that is a good looking car. Yeah, there are way too many 996s. They are great cars, but good deals are to be had because there are so many of them.
The 993 market is a grey area. I don't think it is really as strong as some would like to think. There are just not as many out there and some people seem to hold out for a price. Trashed high milege 996s are dirt cheap and plentiful. People run the miles up on the 996s because they are so reliable and cheap to maintain barring RMS.
I think the 964 is the best bang for the buck as far as 911s go. Great car to drive.

I sure hope the 997TT is a more linited car. Just look at the 993TT. Those suckers are still in the $65-80K range.

I know it hurts to see your car value slip, but this allows more people to own them. This is a good thing, IMO.
