2001 Anthracite/Caramel M5, 79k Miles, $17k
2001 Anthracite/Caramel M5, 79.5k Miles, SOLD!
Year: 2001
Make: BMW
Model: M5
Price: $18000
Mileage: 79000
Color: Anthracite/Caramel
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State): CA
Transmission: Manual
Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive
--body details--one small door ding (paint not compromised), one very minor scratch (more like a rub) in front bumper corner, small crack on bottom lip of front spoiler (a box hit the bottom of the bumper on the highway), one really teeny scratch on the rear bumper. no one other than myself has ever noticed any of the scratches/rubs. normal rock chips on front bumper and hood. for a car this age the body is in great shape. the car is garaged when not in use.
--wheels/tires--one wheel has some curb rash, others in good shape. the tires will need replacement soon. they aren't quite on the wear bars, but getting there.
--interior--modest wear on outer bolsters of front seats, otherwise the leather and the rest of the interior is in terrific shape. i have two sets of caramel bmw mats. no problems with the display. rear view mirror has just recently developed an issue that is very common to these cars. the chromatic coating is defective. bmw has provided for an inexpensive replacement ($100 fix). i'm happy to do it beforehand or the buyer can take care of it if he/she prefers (or leave it as it doesn't really impact visibility).
--mechanical--brakes are original. my independent shop suggested that i wait for the service light to go off before doing the pads, but they will need replacement soon (there has never been a service light on the brakes). i have had an intermittent ses light and was going to take it in when it shows up again, but there are no lights currently. i'm about 95% certain the light pertains to another cam position sensor going. this is a very common problem and is an easy repair that some owners do themselves. the car runs strong and the clutch is still good (my car is mostly driven on the highway so not much shifting or braking!).
i've outlined everything i know about the car. basically it's in fantastic shape for its age, just needs a few things to be perfect. asking $18,000. the nice thing about my car is that you will never see another with this color combo..any questions let me know. attached is a link to full pix of the car taken a couple of weeks ago after a bath. i had one person out to see the car and he offered 18k but cannot move on the car for a few weeks so i'm bumping my ad back up at that price. i'm real close on buying an m3 so if i can get this sold soon i am now ready to go.

i've never seen it either! i just cleaned the car up and it looks fantastic save the small items i mentioned. it also looks like i'm not going to be able to reach agreement on price on the car that has caught my eye so i'm not sure i want to sell mine right now either...but i'm going to post up my pix from this morning anyway...
thanks for the complements guys...the e39 is just a classic great car, what else can you say.

some pix taken this morning and a link to the full album of pix. i've had a lot of local interest so far, but nothing is done by any means. still trying to figure some things out on the other side, including whether an m3 will be too small and/or uncomfortable. we will probably take a look locally at 3 series coupes to get a better sense of whether my wife is ok with a smaller car....

thanks. i have a ton of interest in the car, the trouble being i haven't found what i want to buy yet. i am looking for an e90 sedan with dct and the rest of the goodies but the only one i have seen locally is lemans blue and my wife didn't like the color...still actively looking and when i do i'll turn the m5 loose which will be difficult to do. it is still a fantastic car and i think very cheap at the prices where they trade these days.
