OIL Filter Vantage V8

I was asked last week to comment on the Jag or landrover Oil filter equivalent, for the vantage V8.
After exhausting searches with no luck my Engineer who works on my toys ordered 3 filters From Aston.

We replaced the one on the car and took the old one and cut it open, comparisons were made with that, and a new one we opened, then we opened the one we got from LR and again comparisons were made.
Compression spring resistance tests were done paper and folds were carefully examined, samples of the paper in a new unused AM filter along with our proposed filter were sent to a filter manufacturer to confirm the micron were identical.
The stainless steel supporting pipe in the center was examined and albeit the amount of holes differ in the original the cross section area that permits oil to pass into the filter was calculated to be the same.
Sorry for the long winded post but i think it will bring comfort to someone buying a filter that costs less than a quarter in price.
locally a AM filter is about 99 USD the Landrover equivalent is 11 USD

part Number LR 031439C or Cooppers Fiaam FT5601/z1485

just read the recent thread on oil filters and thought I'd revive this...

I do think the inards of the filter are the important items to review and this thread seems to identify the key components...

I realize this thread is 13 years old, but my V8V is a 2009 so it's pertient...

BTW, the Jag/LR filter mentioned is on the FPC Euro site for under $10

The Land Rover filters as OEM equivalent (Ex. Fram, Mobil1, et al) are readily available at O'Reilly's, Autozone, etc. for the same or less for an oil filter. Having now owned five various Land Rovers from a '72 to a 2013, I can attest to this. I strongly suspect our air filters are also available, but I have yet to discover the equivalent part numbers or applications. It is common knowledge here that the Mazda MPV cabin air filters are also similarly available and you can add an activated carbon charcoal filtration option as well once you realize this.

It is funny this topic came up. Here are some pictures of some oil filters. After seeing the AM filter came from Morocco did a search and there are at least 3 filter makers there.

I recieved an oil filter from Flying Spares and it was made in morocco. I was a little hesitant to use as I hadnt read anywhere of them being manufactured there. Has anyone used them and and can confirm they function as intended. Thanks!

I used the one I had about a month ago and there does not seem to be a problem. However I am not sure how to tell if something is wrong.
