Hi everyone,
It's almost hard for me to believe, but I am putting up for sale my recently acquired 2004 996 GT3. I just got this car back in April and honestly planned to keep it forever, as that is how I usually am with cars. I buy cars I love and that are in great condition, and keep them for a very long time. I still have my first car from 145 years ago, a 1974 BMW 2002tii, I had my NSX for 10 years, and my Audi S4 going on 6 years.
I thought I would do the same with this car, and spent money freshening up even minor things such as the door sills. However, my dream car has always been the 997 GT3, but for a weekend/track car I couldn't justify paying what people were asking for them at the time I was looking, and for my needs, the "logical" choice was the 996, so that is what I bought.
However, just very recently, a local 997 GT3 came up for sale (literally a few blocks away from me) at what I feel is a great price (if you browse this site you could probably figure out which car I am referring to), and I felt like I had to get it, as what are the chances the exact car I wanted, popped up down the street from me, at one of fairest prices I have seen on these cars in quite some time.
So I did the completely illogical, unpractical, irresponsible thing, and committed to buy the 997 (pending PPI), so now it is time to sell my 996 to make room.
So the point of my long boring story above is to highlight that absolutely nothing is wrong with the 996, it is an AWESOME car, and whoever gets it will be extremely happy. Now to get to the main point, below are more details of the details of the car.
For anyone wanting a turn key weekend HPDE car that you can still enjoy on the street, this is it.
Modifications:
-Welded Coolant Lines
-GT3RS Lightweight flywheel and pulley
-OS Giken LSD
-Close ratio gears for 3rd,4th,5th. 5th moved to 6th position (have original gears in good condition)
-OEM front Bumper modified to have Cup Car slots and Radiator tilted for optimum cooling
-997 GT3 Throttle Body
-Front Girodisc 2 piece rotors (3-5 track days on them I believe)
Extras not included:
-Euro GT3 Seats (I plan to take these and put them in the 997, however am willing to keep them with the car if buyer wants to pay extra for them. Price negotiable).
-997 Cup Car steering wheel with NRG Quick release (same as above)
-JRZ RS coilovers
CosmeticCondition:
Overall Car is in great shape. The car has had clear bra over front bumper, hood, front fenders, and side skirts since new, however there are rock chips that you would expect from being a street car with track use with 40k+ miles (and clear bra shows wear/tear as well). No dings or dents that I can see, however. Interior has minor scuffs/etc consistent with a 11 year old car,but no big eye sores or defects.
Mechanical Condition:
Mechanically car runs amazing, It has range 1 overrevs, and a very small amount of range 2 (less then 100) , but a super long time ago where I would not be worried about it at all (see attached PPI I did on the car before I bought it a few months ago). I would also obviously be happy to take it to another shop in the bay area for a new PPI at buyers expense.
It dyno'd at 361whp just 5000 miles ago, and feels like it has every bit of that still.
Other info:
when I got the car, I paid a stupid amount of money to have calipers repainted professionally, so they look awesome. I also swapped out some interior bits that had scratches (glove box handle, leather armrest).
Records:
I have what appears to be complete, detailed records from every owner since 2005. This is a big plus when it comes to these cars.
Price:
Asking $65k OBO.
Pictures:
Since this was kind of a "spur of the moment" decision, I don't have good pictures other then quick ones I snapped from my iPhone. I will try and take/post better photos this weekend, but in the meantime please PM me if you want more details/info/close up shots of anything.I also have Carfax and Autocheck reports from before I bought the car, and an extensive PPI report from April, I can email this to anyone interested.
Please PM me with any questions, and I can then give you my real email address and cel to discuss further if interested.

....Not saying its going to happen in this instance, but had I waited, the 997 GT3 I am buying would have been long gone, as the seller informed me he had multiple people try to buy it after I contacted him just in time..

Price drop: 70k OBO. Will probably be removing the Roll bar, steering wheel, and Euro Seats next week and returning interior back to stock, so if anyone wants to get this car with a perfect setup for the track now is the time, as I will be much more willing to negotiate prices with these parts since I won't have to deal with swapping out all the parts.
