Exclamation 1993 RX7-built 6.0 Procharged/Cobra 8.8 IRS/T56/AC/etc

Year: 1993
Make: Mazda
Model: RX-7
Price: $35000
Mileage: 3000
Color: red
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State): VA
Transmission: Manual
Drivetrain: Rear Wheel Drive

If this car is not worthy to be on this page, please delete. I have had many other swapped cars that didn't in my opinion deserve to be on a forum like this, but I thought this one was sort of special and unique. Basically…..after pouring a ton of sweat into this car, I’m throwing it up on market because I want to go shopping for a new toy. This is my 5th FD and it is quite unique. I’ve never seen another procharged FD with this kind of parts list and great working AC. I am certain there are things I have missed out, but I’m trying to formulate a list that is helpful for next owner.

The short:
Entire build has under 3k miles on it. Machined and built 6.0 LS with forged guts, D1SC procharged, 8.8 Cobra IRS. Built T56. Retains all creature comforts like AC, PS, and PB. It’s loud, it’s angry, it’s sorted, it’s an attention grabber, and yes….it’s fast (620whp on current pulley at 8-10psi and 800whp on included smaller pulley. Tuned on pump 93)

Teaser Video:

More Pictures:

The long:
The Car:
VR 1993 RX7 base model with 119k chassis miles
VIN: JM1FD331XP0200723
Under 3k miles on everything on this build
Clean title, no wrecks, no flood, no issues, no history
Samberg Trans mount, Hinson K member, Pez fabbed cradle for 8.8
Retains AC (it is COLD) , PS, and PB
4 bar SD tune on HPTuners. Starts right up, drives excellent, no complaints on tune. Runs safe.

Motor:
Iron block 6.0 LS bored .30 over, New cam/main/rod bearings, hardware, etc. Rotating assembly balanced, heads worked and cleaned up,etc. (Motor built/balanced/assembled professionally)
JE forged pistons
Texas Speed forged H beam connecting rods
LS3 crankshaft
ARP crank main hardware
ARP head studs
ARP rod bolts.
ATI Super Damper
LS3 823 heads, Hardened pushrods
Comp Cams 228xr (or was it HR? can’t recall)
FAST 102mm Throttle body
FAST 102mm intake manifold
D1SC Procharger running an 8-10lb pulley (including 14-16lb pulley with sale)
Aster bracket and 8-rib belt (awesome piece but pricy….no slip though)
Procharger by-pass valve
OPL elbows
CB Performance LSX 8.65” crank pulley
Brute Speed Water pump
Trailblazer ss procharger inlet hat and filter
Upgraded “truck coils” with the cooling fins
Mighty Mouse catch can

Cooling:
Big A2A intercooler with top mount and custom fabbed intake pipe (IC is good for a lot more power)
SPAL pusher and puller fan
Radiator, IC, and condenser sandwiched tight with custom aluminum shroud
Custom AC lines and condenser setup. PEZ-wired AC

Driveline:
Built t56 (upgraded shift forks, bronze keepers, keys, and other parts that were worn were replaced) Zero popouts or grinds in forward gears, no synchro issues whatsoever. It’s stout! Reverse lockout solenoid needs the spring upgrade as the short shifter makes reverse harder to get in and stay in.
Textralia stage 3 clutch
8.8 Cobra IRS with 3.55 gears. No clunking, no whining, no issues whatsoever. Best 8.8 setup I’ve seen. When you get on the gas, it hooks, and tracks very straight with no drama. Can include wheel speed sensors for Traction Control.
Custom driveshaft and beefy u-joints (1350 iirc)
US Brake clutch master cylinder
Release bearing remote bleeder
MGW short shifter
Trans tunnel thermal cover plate from Secondboltracing.com

Fuel Delivery:
A1000 pump behind license plate
Pre-filter at pump and post filter in stock FD location
Sumped tank with AN fittings
AN lines (-8feed/-6return)
Aeromotive FPR on driver firewall and boost referenced.
Siemens Deka 80lb injectors
Tuned on 93, no meth, however a meth port is bunged up underneath the intake pipe for future.

Exhaust:
JTR 1-7/8 long tubes,
Cat delete (sorry CA guys, this one isn’t for you)
Custom mid/Y pipe (everything is tight and sits high, no low hanging fruit here)
Blitz NUR-spec SS cat-back (I removed the silencer, you can have it if you want to quiet car down a lot)

Suspension/Chassis:
Qa1 fully adjustable rear shocks with custom top plate with sliders
Tanabe GF210 spring (have stock shocks/struts if you want them)
EBC extreme duty brake pads, vented rotors
Wilwood brake proportioning valve
ABS delete kit
E-brake works great with the 8.8
285/40/18 street drag radials in rear
245/40/18

Body:
Shine burnout side skirts
Shine front bumper
Shine front over fenders
Shine rear bumper
Shine Ducktail spoiler
J. Pezzuti hood with latches
HotWater Labs headlights (V2, the good ones)
99 spec lights front and rear
Shorty antenna mod
All glass is good with no issues and original matching VIN on all glass
Windows tinted pretty dark
Car shows very well and has just received over 35 hours of paint restoration. Car is factory VR color, but repainted. It is not a 10/10 car. My main stick right now on body is a dime-sized ding on passenger door. It is most certainly a very easy PDR fix. Driver door is harder to fully close than passenger side (common FD thing)

Interior:
CF shifter surround panel
C6 shift ****
Double din radio, crossover boxes and aftermarket speakers/tweeters. (sub/amps/etc have been removed from trunk but wiring is still there)
“LS Procharged RX7 “floormats and trunk mat
GM 411 PCM and Dakota boxes located behind passenger kick panel
Aluminum interior passenger door handle
A-pillar 3-gauge pod
Center dash speaker 2-gauge pod
Prosport Wideband 02 gauge with Bosch 02 sensor bunged in mid-pipe (com-box in driver footwell area)
Prosport Boost/vacuum gauge
Prosport fuel pressure gauge
Prosport premium water temp. gauge with warning light/beep
Prosport premium oil pressure gauge with warning light/beep (btw, oil pressure is excellent)
Much of interior recently replaced/repaired. Still not perfect, but a lot better than most I’ve seen.
Missing driver rear tan speaker cover, DS/PS knee plastic on tunnel, tiny triangle on interior DS door, and trunk tool cover.
Spare tire and trunk tools and jack all with car

Electrical:
PEZ wiring on front clip of chassis and motor, all custom harness and fuse/relay boxes, etc. All new wire clips, fasteners, etc. Wiring is done very professionally and tucked away well also. AC wiring is ran through the GM PCM and utilizes high RPM compressor shut-off, compressor on/off idle adjust, pressure sensor, etc. OBD2 port located in glovebox. Side note: there is no “click-click-start issue on this car like many FDs.
Optima battery in hatch in battery box, strapped down
Big amp truck alternator (took a lot of work getting it to fit with blower without down-sizing alternator pulley)
Oil pressure sensor relocation (near FPR on strut tower)
Speedo reads a little fast (just needs adjusted at Dakota box)

(Current pulley is a 8-10lb pulley, the other should be a 14-16lb pulley which would max out this blower. This car is set up to run big boost, and you can bolt a F-series blower right onto this thing if you wanted to join the 4-digit club!)

Trades considered, but only if it’s a trade that nets me more than asking price if I sell your car. Main trades I would be interested is: 1) a 67-72 C10 with swap, suspension, paint/body, and AC. 2) Anything with a single turbo 2JZ swap and AC

Price: $35k
Location: Richmond, VA

(trying to get pictures up)

thanks a bunch. Yah it looks beefy, but it’s way lighter than you might think. In fact it weighs 500lbs less than my 996 turbo. Suspension in rear is set pretty soft right now, so it squats and gits! A turn of the **** would change all that though.

Sorry for not responding quick enough. To answer the question regarding Oil pressure, it Is excellent, and is verified by the gauge both cold and hot. I’ve been contemplating sending car to my tuner (Frost), adding meth injection, and boosting her to 800whp now that she has enough break-in miles. Only issue there is that I might not want to sell it so quickly after that.

I'm taking car off the market, thanks everyone.
i am going to make it faster. (pulley it down and add meth and retune and some other things)
Maybe I'll list it again in the spring at a more firm price.

Can't wait to see the result man maybe unleash the full potential of the built LS. I better start selling some of my stuff now or save some $$$, lol
Take a partial trade man and get it done.
