Avatar Size

Can anyone help with a question about Avatar size? 6speedonline seems to be reducing my avatar size to tiny (see above), despite that it is a much larger picture. In looking through the member listings, I see several people have much larger Avatars. As a test, I even saved one of their avatar pictures and uploaded it as if it was my own. It was reduced to 1/3 the size of theirs.

If this were Rennlist, I would know the answer -- become a paid member (which I am, and so this same picture is large there). But I cannot find any sort of status difference like that on 6speedonline, any way to upgrade, or any difference between myself and those other members other than number of posts.

Is it possible the avatar size increases as you post more? Or are the larger avatars just members who created their avatars before some change was made that reduced size? Any help would be useful -- neither a read of the FAQ nor a Google search has helped.

Thanks.

no...but a little viagra might help

avatars are limited in size and number of pixel width and height...if you exceed the dimensions it should give you an error message unless the techs have added some auto resizing and that is what is happening to yours...check your avatar for a size that is less than 19kb and pixel dimensions around 176 x 114....your avatar is only 7.6kb and 125 x74 in size...you will need imaging software like photoshop or a digital camera to resize the image without affecting resolution

Thanks Chuck. The file I am using is 19.3 KB and the image size is 300 x 177. However, it changes to this tiny thing on upload (to continue your analogy, I am getting shrinkage!). So I wonder if an automatic reduction system is now in effect. I have also replied to your PM.

Thanks,
Chip

PS. Based on your comments, I changed my picture to 176x104, hoping that if my file size and pixel size were both within bounds, I might avoid any resizing. It had no effect.

Your avatar is larger than Chuck's, and at what I would assume are the maximum dimensions set on 6speedonline. I think all is working as intended
