Detailed: BLACK is BACK! PICS PICS!
What a busy week this has been, shortly after Silver DC5 Type S’s detail, Clubrsx member Matsuya contacted me about some needed love for his NHBP 2002 rsx-s. Through numerous PM’s and conversations on the phone it was decided that I would be making the drive up to his place in Corona. The drive was about 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours with some minor traffic. The car had 86-87k miles on it with pretty heavy swirling, etching and staining from the daily elements. According to the owner he said hes been taking the car to the gas station car washes weekly for the past 2 YEARS!!
Anyways on to the pics!

heres what I was working with

Rear Quarter panel swirling

Prepping for the two stage polish/wax

Before-Passenger front fender

After- Left side 1st stage polish/ Right side uncorrected

can you tell the difference?? 1st stage polish job on the left, no correction on the right.

passenger door swirling and etching

more swirling

Passenger door before

After- Left side 1st stage polish/Right side no correction

50/50 shot

Another 50/50

Before-Rear passenger quarter panel

After- Left side first stage polish job/ Right side no correction

Rear Trunk-Bottom (passenger side) 1st stage polish job/ Top (driver side) no correction.
Notice how hazed the driver side section is.

Driver side compare with driver side rear quarter panel. Driver side uncorrected(left)/ Driver rear quarter panel after 1st stage polishing (right).

Driver side Before

Driver side After- Right stage 1st stage polishing/ Left side no correction

Hazed/swirled reflection

The perfection is in the reflection!

driver side door after 1st stage polishing

Engine bay before

Engine bay “wipe down”, (not an engine bay detail)

NHBP reflecting like no other/ After a 2 stage polish job/wax

So warm and deep!

I'm not sure that will be a permanent fix. I had the same thing with a previous black Lexus and it was polished and worked on similarly but once the wax wore off, after a few months, the swirls were still there.
was this detailed? what products were used? machine or hand? There are too many variables that could have added more swirling such as improper washing with the wrong products. There are alot of hack detailers out there that use fillers in there products, this gives the illusion that the swirls have been removed when in fact they have only been filled in. Once the filler has been applied they try and seal it in with a sealant or wax which usually does not bond well with the filler. Give it a few washes and everything will be removed and the swirls will reappear. I bust swirls, not hide them.
