11-99 license plate frame (different types?)

i noticed that there are two different types of 11-99 foundation plates and i know that they are for the same cause but what are the differences?

one says chp 11-99 foundation on the bottom with member at the top

and the other one, which seems majority have, is the one that simply just says 11-99 foundation in the bottom. what are the differences? is one the "newer" design? are there fakes?

It is a foundation setup for the fallen members of the CHP. You can read about it on CHP website. Bascially people send in charitable donations to support the CHP. There are different levels I believe, which you get placards, decals or license plate frames showing your support.

yup just like DRIFTTN said, it's a charity for the CHP. run a search on here and you'll come up with TONS of results debating if it helps you get out of a ticket or not.

so does anyone know if theres a difference between these frames?

As long as you get the matching badge it doesn't make a difference.

Many officers are targeting the "11-99" cars for citations now. City officers mostly. They see it as you trying to get out of a citiation. The 11-99 foundation is a great cause, but there is no need to put the frame on your car. The head of the 11-99 foundation took his off as well. Interesting read:

Those articles are old. The foundation is a good cause and the funds you donate are put to good use. I don't know about the plates specifically, but I do plan on joining one day.

those are both old.
there is bronze, silver and gold now.
the frame is chrome and depending on how much you donate 5k-25k? i think the color of the engraving changes.

Yeah, they are. They now have the the new membership levels, haven't seen any of the "new" frames with the different membership levels.

Here's the bday cake my gf had made for me based on the plate, etc. on my Supra a couple months ago.
