At least with CHP you have the option to go to another CHP office. I believe if the stop was from a local police agency, then you would have to go to either the courthouse or whatever one inspection point the city sets up.

Or is that not true? Does Los Angeles County have a bunch of sign off places one might try if you don't go to the court? I'd just try that first with the tow hook mount I suppose and hope I get lucky.

Quick question, I just got a tint ticket about a month ago but have since sold my car. What do I do about the ticket since I no longer own the car? Thanks

Even if LAPD cites you, you can still have it signed off at a CHP station.

Any law enforcement agency in CA can sign it off: CHP, County Sheriff, local PD, but you have to pay them 'inspection fee'.

It also can be done at any CA DMV and it's FREE!

Not so sure about the "inspection fee"... If you've paid one in the past, I'd go find out where the money went. My brother, who is a cop here in San Diego, routinely signs off fix-it tickets after he personally confirms that the fix was done. As long as the LEO isn't otherwise tied up, they're more than happy to take a quick look and sign it off.

That's not the case with Torrance PD. They DO collect 'inspection fee'. Even with the L.A. County Superior Court Traffic Divisions, the court clerk also require 'inspection fee' to write-off fix-it violations.

Wow... Interesting, and we thought we had budget problems in San Diego. Just a month or two ago a co-worker of mine got a tinted-window fix-it... We took off on a coffee run and there were a couple of CHP guys hanging out at the Starbucks doing paperwork. She asked one if he could sign it off and he did after he walked out to take a look... I guess life is a little different north of Camp Pendleton...
