KewlRides Chillin 01/17/2010 Meet & Greet - Alpharetta Ga - Revised

.

KewlRides's January Meet & Greet will be the 17th of January 2009. The location is the usual, Millers Ale House & Old Home Depot Expo parking lot in Alpharetta, GA , there is more than enough space to accommodate a large gathering of cars.

This month will we be collecting once again for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
Please remember while we are taking donations we never want anyone to feel we are in your face about the charities. Donating is a personal choice we each make and KewlRides do not what anyone to feel pressured into donating.

So drag that KewlRide out of the garage, call some friends and tell them to rev up those cars, come on out and enjoy the day. See you there.

Thanks
KewlRides

Revised Charity

Folks as recent events have changed; this month’s KewlRides will be taking donations for the Haitian relief effort instead of collecting can goods for Salvation Army. If you are donating please make your checks payable to:

Salvation Army Haiti Earthquake Relief

so we can deliver these checks immediately to the Salvation Army office.

This country has had a long history of unemployment, little resources, and an economy that has not been stable in decades (the average annual per capita income is less than $400.00). Haiti has one of the highest rates of AIDS, malnutrition, and infant mortality. Haiti also has been ravaged by hurricanes over the last years.

With the catastrophic 7.0 earthquake this January 2010 the tiny country has been dealt a devastating blow, the expected fatality toll is expected to be near 100,000 or over. This number is greater than many of the cities here in Georgia that we know or live in, for example Roswell = 87, 657 , Marietta = 67,562 , Alpharetta = 49,903 , Peachtree City = 34,788 , Dunwoody = 32,808 , , Duluth = 26,125 , Snellville = 20,112 , Cumming = 5, 719, and finally Jonesboro = 4,131 (US Census 2008).

That expected fatality total would equal the combined sum of Jonesboro, Cumming, Snellville, Duluth, Dunwoody and about a third of the population of Peachtree City population. It would be very hard to imagine these six cities without any people, no activity.
If you would rather donate directly to the Salvation Army the link of donation is:

Salvation Army Link for Online Donation - Click here to be taken to site

This is the Salvation Army donation site; you can specify what the funds are to be used for on this site. There is also a paypal link for use.

Again with these thoughts in mind we will be collecting for the Salvation Army Haitian relief this Sunday, remember while are collecting donations, there are no expectations from those of you that come out to KewlRides. We do this as an informal Meet & Greet but since KewlRides is about charity we select an organization to collect for, sadly this month that cause is the Haitian relief fund. Thank you in advance.

Hope to see you there; we’ll be there, will you?

We would like to thank those of you that came out despite the talk of weather complications. As we know in GA, if you do not like the weather report wait a few moments and it will change. Well we started the day off with a downpour, but as the day progressed the Sun peaked out and Sunglasses were the issue of the day.
We did not have a large group we did have a group of what is becoming KewlRides Chillin regulars. It was Corvettes, SuperBee, Trailblazer and Aston Martin for the day. We did a quick change about this month’s charity in light of the disaster in Haiti and while it was a small group we did manage to collect approx. $200.00 to be delivered to the Salvation Army relief effort this week.

Thank you to those of you that made it out and to those of you that donated, and those of you that have donated online to the relief effort.

Remember we will be there next month on the 21st of February.
See you there.

KewlRides
