Naples Florida

Folks,

My wife and I just bought a weekend getaway in Naples. My plan is to leave one of our cars (probably the Boxster s) at the condo so I can have my car fix during the winter when we come down for long weekends.

Are there any active car clubs/groups in this area? The local PCA club does not appear to be very active. I love all performance cars, so a Porsche only group is not important.

Cheers

You may want to post it over at the FL sub-forum. I know NastyZ06 here is in Naples,... and there are probably others. We have a monthly get together in Ft Lauderdale and you're welcomed to join us. Welcome to S.FL.

Suncoast region (Sarasota/St. Pete Area) is pretty active. Lots of DE's at Sebring and auto-x if you're into that stuff.

XLR82XS, We bought in a development called Lely (just east of Naples off of 41). About 3 miles from the pier.

We lived down there in the late 80s, but had to move back to Cleveland in 1990 to take care of family. We have been trying to get back ever since. Work keeps me where I am, so this little vactation condo will hold me over till retirement.

wpgfordguy, although many great eateries have opened in north naples, we still love "olde" naples the best, and dine out on 5th avenue most of the time. What are your favorites?

Welcome to Naples! Shoot me a PM whenever you come on down and I can try to get you hooked up with the local scene. Car show/cruise in season is upon us...so the next time you are down there should be plenty to do!

I saw you posted that you should be down for the weekend of Jan 17th: On the 15th we have a cruise in over to Ft. Lauderdale for a lunctime cruise/show and a 'spirited' run down to A1A and the beach.

Let me know, and again, welcome to Naples!

Thanks Scott, would love to join you on the 15th, but we'll still be driving (grrr). Are there any good backroads up to Sanibel?

No, not really. You could take Bonita Beach road through Ft. Myers Beach on the way up to Sanibel/Captiva. That would be the most 'scenic' way.

Give me a shout whenever you are in town and want to go cruise around!

I agree with the previous responses, you can find lots of car activities to fill your days while your in town. If you will still be here on the 26th and 27th of February bring the Boxster over to Sebring for a track event, or just to mingle and meet some other car enthusiasts. I can give you information on how to register for it.
Also, on your way to or from Sanibel, stop by AutoQuest in Ft Myers to see some Really Cool Cars ask for Gavin. He is a wealth of knowledge about cars and some of the other events in the area.

Enjoy the drive south!

Thanks Amy, will do. Exactly where in Ft Myers are you located?
