Track Day: HHR May 8th

I'm putting together a track day at HHR on May 8th.

We'll have the track to ourselves in the afternoon. Instruction will be available.

The event is capped at 20 drivers. Pm or email for pricing info

The mix right now is Evos, Z06's, Lotus', and RX8s.

PM me or email me goofygrin -at- gmail.com for more info or if you wanted to register.

Great to see some track day organization. HHR is excellent for those that haven't been - Blackhorse Turbo take note!

I can't make this one but hope to see more in the future.

You guys missed out on a great day.

HHR is a nice facility run by a great group of people! If only they had gas onsite!

What are you going to be driving? We had some great instructors come out and it made the day a great success.

When you first get there, turn 4 (the big downhill jobbie) looks the worst/hardest, but it really isn't (although I never really got a good feel for it). Turn 1 is a true gut check (and it actually makes it worse to lift/brake before it!) and turn 7 is very hard to get just right. Be careful in turn 10 since an off there is bad news.

We had just a couple offs, the worst of which resulted in an aftermarket front lip getting removed and the undertrap getting beaten up/taken off (and some grass in the tire bead). That's a good day for me

Looks like you had a great time. How many of you were there? What kinds of times were you posting?

We had 22 "student" cars and 8-9 instructor cars in three run groups, so there was a ton of space for everyone. Everyone got between 80 minutes to 120 minutes of seat time for $115.

I didn't really push it until my last session (heck, the last session is the only one I ran until the checkered flag). Running an event is pretty hard work! I ended up putting down a couple laps that session in the high 1:29's low 1:30 range. Not terrible for the first time at the track, 5th time on a track at all. I never could find a line I liked on 2/3, 4, and 7 and I kept braking too early into 9. I'm certain I could have taken a second or two off if I'd pushed it just a bit harder. In the hands of a more capable driver, the car was worth a lot more.

I was just out there having fun and trying not to break anything since we took a 9 hour cruise through the hill country the next day.
