This looks awesome. I need a radar and I was about to order the V1 until I saw this. Anyone have one yet/ can compare it to the Valentine? The 9500ix comes pre loaded with speed camera, red light camera and speed tarp locations stationed all over North America, pretty great idea IMO!

The $500 Escort 9500ix has the exact same radar detection range as the $450 Escort 9500i which the $400 Valentine One beats in radar detection range.

I personally prefer the V1 with the mirror addition.

 

I bought the Escort 9500 over the V1 although the V1 does detect radar from a slightly further distance. The speed camera / red light camera thing that's can be updated sold me on the Escort. Besides, getting notified 1 mile before a LEO is waiting vs. 1.5 miles away, I can live with that.

 

The problem is if the cop is shooting instant-on radar 1.5 miles away, the V1 will detect it while the Escort 9500ix will be silent.

I have the 9500 with gps plus shifters, front and back, it's the best I have ever had, champion installed it. about 850 with install.

 

I have had the V1 and the 9500ix mounted right next to each other on my M5 for almost two years, so I can give you a very good comparison. I've used V1's since they first came out, and like the ad says, once you use the arrows you won't want to do without them. I use the V1 on the hwy, but the false alarms drive me NUTS around town. I turn the V1 volume down and use the 9500 ix around town.

 

I agonized with this decision a few months ago and finally went went with the Escort 9500 ix. So far, I'm been VERY very pleased with the unit. It quickly learns where the bogus signals are and filters them out. I'm amazed how early I get radar warnings. Sometimes 2 miles or more in advance of seeing the car. I like the idea of the arrows on the V1 but honestly, bottom line; when the unit goes off, slow down for the next few miles no matter where he's hiding! I'm using my 9500 ix mounted directly behind my rear view mirror. It's hardwired to the car with escorts remote accessory cord. This small led display with a mute button I have Velcro'd down at the base of my left windshield pillar. To put the cherry on top, the unit is easy to upload with new firmware and speed cam databases. I just get in my car with my laptop with a wireless connection and 3-4 minutes later, my unit is up to date! A V1 must be sent in for updates. I plan to ad the escort Z4 laser scrambler thingie soon as like many of you, I find myself driving much much to fast!

 

I agree - bottom line is if I only had one detector, I would choose the 9500ix.

 

Why would you want to spend $450 for the Escort ZR4 laser jammer when it sucks compared to an excellent laser diode jammer like the Laser Interceptor that really works?

Everybody who owns a Bel or Escort product and has never owned a Valentine One likes to discount the usefulness of the arrows and talk about how great the GPS filtering feature is on the Escort 9500i or Escort 9500ix.

The TrueLock feature on the Escort 9500i and Escort 9500ix is fundamentally flawed and it could result in a speeding ticket. The Escort 9500i and Escort 9500ix break K band down into 8 segments so when you TrueLock a K band false from a door opener, you have blocked 12.5% of K band that is shot in that particular segment in that 1/2 mile area. That is if you only block one door opener but most places have multiple door openers all operating in different segments of K band.

If you have 4 door openers that are in different segments, you will have blocked 50% of K band radar that is shot in that area regardless of whether it is from a door opener or a cop shooting K band within that 1/2 mile area. You will not receive an alert and you will receive a ticket if you are speeding. The only time the Escort will definitely alert in a TrueLocked area is if he is shooting Ka band because the Escort 9500i and Escort 9500ix will always alert to Ka band in a TrueLocked area.

"I was driving a stretch of road that used to have two K band alerts in less than a mile. Now thanks to trulock, that stretch of road has been quiet for me.

But today it was too quiet. I was almost dead center between the two false alarm locations and noticed my satellite icon was still spinning. (It usually stops for a while in between the two locations.)

I reached up and hit the GPS button to disable GPS features and my ix instantly starts freaking out on K-band. (Very strong signal)

Sure enough, there is a LEO about a block ahead of me waiting to make a u-turn. He made the u-turn and took a side street shortly thereafter. As soon as he turned down the side street the K-band alert stopped and a few seconds after that, the CVS sounded a weak K-band alert as expected.

I've got more experience with the V1 than most people. I've done over 300,000 miles over 20 years with Valentines, and I know Mike V - he's here in Cincinnati. The arrows as I said are absolutely invaluable... On the highway. After you've learned the patterns, you can use the arrows to tell you all sorts of things about the signal - they are definitely one of the best radar detector features that exists. The V1 as I said, is also more sensitive than the 9500 ix. This has plusses and minuses. The V1 will pull in a bogey sooner than the 9500 MOST times. There have been a few instances when I've had the 9500 ID the bogey first. However, if I only had one detector to have, I'd choose the 9500ix - here's why:

The V1 is pretty much worthless around town. I realized this after I ran right through a radar trap with the V1 blaring at me. I realized that I had been recieving so many false signals that I had just tuned it out. I get 9 BOGEYS every time I pull into Kroger!!! The thing had become so irritating that I was just ignoring it. With the 9500, if it sounds in an area that I've been in before and I'm speeding, I BRAKE. No questions, no hesitation.

Valentine missed a huge technical advance with the GPS integration, and they know it. They cannot integrate this into the V1 because of IP issues. So, I just ordered a Laser Interceptor, I'll turn my V1 on on the highway, and off in town, and I'll use the 9500 in town. Eventually someone will come up with the total package...

 

Is there way to limit the false alarms on the valentine 1 in town? I tunred off x band but I still get a ton of K bands from auto doors often?
