996 GT3 Removing front fender well paneling

I am trying to replace my amber side lights with clear, but was thwarted by the front fender well covers. I have the right sockets for the screws, but those plastic two layered rivet things have me stumped. Do I just yank them out and buy replacements, or will that do other damage? Is there a way to get them out without trashing them and/or the lining?

TIA

If all you are trying to do is change out the amber side markers to clear, then just pop out the amber side markers, unplug the bulb, swap if necessary, and reinstall clear markers. Grab the end of the light near the wheel well liner area and pull straight out, it is sort of spring-loaded in there. Then to install, put the front end in first, and snap in the rear side.

+1, if you are just replacing the side marker you don't need to remove the wheel well liner. It will take less force to pull out the end as described above if you use a flat head screwdriver to push in the metal clip inside while the end of the marker is pulled out a little.

If you do want to remove the expansion rivets in the wheel well, pull up the center/top part of the expansion rivet first then the base. Reverse to install and be careful when you push the top back in as they can be bent.
