B&M short shifter

B&M short shifter
I have installed a B&M SS and it's great. Should be original equipment as far as I'm concerned! The problem is, however, I CANNOT remove the shift **** and boot from the shifter rod, pole whatever you want to call it. I do not have the set screw version. What is the secret? The boot,****, rod/linkage/pole are already removed from the car, I just need to reinstall it on the new shifter.

I came to the conclusion that there is no "secret"...after alot of tugging, pulling, swearing and blood, sweat, and tears..I GOT IT... just for gp, if someone does know an easy way to remove the ****, please pass it on.

I was going to reply saying to just try and pull it off, but I was not sure that was the correct way to remove the **** (only have removed one and I forgot how we got it off). Most of the German cars tend to have the ***** on plastic clips that keep the **** from moving. But boy, they can be a bear to pull off, very tight. I am glad to see everything worked out ok for you.

Mansour:
I do not remember, maybe I was detailing the paint when you pulled it off? Now that you mention the short allen key, I do have a vague remembrance of it.

You are not kidding. The BMW 5 series is the same way. I had a black eye for two weeks after the damn **** finally came off and came up and hit me in the face!
