Thumbs up GP Automotive Renewal Service: Clear Film/Phase 3/Huper Optik Tint - Tesla Model S

Picture a sunny Saturday afternoon in SoCal. I'm sitting outside enjoying an In-N-Out burger. I see a Tesla Model S rolling slowly by our studio and stopping. So naturally I come over and who do I see? A long-time Porsche client of ours that we haven't seen in years. He and his wife just purchased a Model S P85 and were here to remove the clear film originally installed by factory. After about an hour of catching up and playing with the Model S, and getting the ride of a lifetime at mach speeds, we got down to business. Client wanted a renewal service, clear film, and Huper Optik window tint.

So here is a great project that shows the level of attention and craftsmanship that goes into doing these services, the GP way.

GP Automotive Renewal Service - Phase 3

Initial wheel cleaning using all-natural wheel cleaner and a unique polishing soap

Wash using all-natural soap and genuine Australian lambs wool wash mitt

Wash mitt and panel rinsed after cleaning each panel. This way, we don't put a dirty wash mitt back in our clean soap bucket

Decontaminate paint and glass surfaces

Paint assessed for condition. As you can see, quite a few swirls and scratches

Carbon fiber not properly polished to remove sanding marks

Paint properly polished and corrected

Carbon polished and corrected. As you can see, the clarity of the weave comes through and there's a nice gloss that wasn't evident before

Door jams cleaned and waxed

Old tire dressing removed

Notice the clean look using a proper tire conditioner. Notice the definition in the lettering of tire. It no longer has the messy goop from previous application

Charging cord cleaned and conditioned

All rubber and plastic trim cleaned and conditioned

Wheels waxed

Interior vacuumed and leather cleaned using all natural leather cleaner

Main screen cleaned using an all-natural glass cleaner

Carpets cleaned

Final detail and quality control

Old film carefully removed. This can take some time as we go very slow. There's always a slight risk of removing the paint while taking off the old clear film

Old film. Lots of relief cuts and exposed edges

Once film is removed, you can see the scratches and sanding marks in the clear coat

Polishing in process. This step is crucial and takes great skill. You want to remove just enough clear coat to safely remove imperfections, but not too much to hinder the UV protection of clear coat. Years of experience. This is an art form to us at GP

Most installation is done using bulk film. We simply lay down a sheet of clear film, and cut by hand. This assures maximum coverage and few visible lines

To do a clean install, we take many hours removing as much obstructions as possible. This requires great mechanical skills and knowledge of the vehicle. Last thing you want is spare parts

Initial quality test to make sure everything is returned to working condition prior to re-assembly

All clips returned to original position in original manner

Final result. A clean and seamless installation

It's like nothing ever happened

Huper Optik is a very unique nano ceramic film from Germany. This technology is arguably the most cutting-edge and the durability of this film is unmatched. The benefits of Huper Optik are unmatched heat rejection and attaining maximum performance while using the lightest shade of film. Most our clients do not care for a "limo" look. So this product can offer a clean and OEM "look" while offering excellent performance

Film is hand cut and no digital cutters are used. This allows the installer to cover and customize the maximum coverage on each glass surface. Years of experience and only a few skilled installers are able to work with Huper Optik

Film is hand-contoured to the shape of glass

Amazing job!

The car at the end looks far better than new.

Thanks for checking it out.

Most of the time, by the time a vehicle goes through our phase 3, it often looks better than new
