Heat Cycling tires
Heat Cycling tires
Can someone tell me the advantage of getting the tires pre-heat cycled over just using them the way they come. Becuase if I use them at the track the first time, they are then heat cycled, aren't they?

Thanks for that, I appreciate it!
So if I get a new set of tires and I take them in the canyons, come home and let them sit for 24-48 hours, is that considered a heat cycle or does it have to be a "track" heat cycle?
There is a link out there where a test was done on Heat Cycle for tires.
-Tire Rack heat cycle tire.
-Heat Cycle from street driving.
-No heat cycle.
The longevity on the Tire Rack and street heat cycle tire were the same. The tires that were not heat cycled
There are many opinions of heat cycling tires. Some say it definitely improves their life, other say just drive on them and they'll last just as long. I don't have enough experience to tell you which, but if you have the ability to heat cycle them for one 15 minute session and put them away for a few day... whatcha' got to lose ???

I'd also add, that you may or may not get them to heat up during a canyon run. The test is to come out of a turn and immediately take the temp of the tires. They should be about 170-190 degrees. If they are, then you got them "up to temp" and you can set them aside to cure. It is fine to drive home with them at that point. Assuming, "home" isn't a couple hundred miles.
just my opinion.
