996TT vs Acura NSX
996TT vs Acura NSX
Found this post on a website that sets up track races for free. Seems like this guy is trying to start a site where he can sponsor 1/4 miles races as well as track races if selected. He is currently located in the Midwest and has already setup a race between the NSX and a Mustang GT. Although the race probably will be a blowout, I'm sure it will be interesting to watch nonetheless. Here's the site: DrivN
ummmmm... no, most NSXers dont believe this. I am one of the original NSXCA members, know many NSXers and have had 4 NSX's, I modified them all heavily, there is a very slim to no chance that a heavily mod'd (FI) NSX can beat a 996TT on the street, especially in a 1.4 mile. There are a couple turbo NSX's out there that possibly might, but as a rule, no. Would be 0 to *** beating in about 4 seconds.
That being said, a heavily mod'd NSX could be quicker than a stock 996tt on a track- obviously depends on the driver of course, but the NSX handles VERY well and easy to drive very quickly.
Now a mod'd NSX vs mod'd 996tt - outside of driver error, no f'in way in hell, the NSX will get eaten alive.
Now some Evos and WRX's definitely think they can take on a 996tt.

I've been hearing about guys stating they could beat a 996TT in a modded STI. I also have a friend who belongs to the 350Z forum and he said that there are guys on his forum that could easily beat a 996TT if the 350Z had a turbo. Don't think it's possible but I let him think it anyway. I say we get a 996TT and take that guy up on his offer at DrivN and find a 350Z or STI willing to race. I think then that will put an end to all the trash talking.

Most of the poeple I knew were realistic and knew the NSX wasnt a drag car, they wanted a reliable "supercar", which it was for the day. I know the Comptech guys well, I had one of the first "high psi" superchargers and just about everything ctech made, and oh how pricey that was. You're right though, thats what it takes to make the car quick. Wouldnt say the NSX is slow, just isnt fast.
IMHO Honda screwed the pooch by not keeping the car up to date, I was hoping for 3.5liter 32v V8, sequential tranny, maybe awd etc... but like many other NSXers I moved on and not looking back, I now have a 600+hp 911 turbo :-)
Back in the day, I had one of the first Brembo setups for the NSX, allot of vette and viper owners feared the braking zones behind me, I had them going in the turns, but was owned on the straights :-( the CTSC, NSX-R gearing etc... didnt help much outside the twisties. Btw, you still with the NSXCA?

I drive a STi and planing to buy a 911tt next spring, with the lite mod's that i have, it's a fun fast car.
Stock to stock, NSX performance is more comparable to a NA 911 and is no way close to TT. I sure love NSX's lines though. One of pretties and fun to drive cars.
Agree that Acura really let its NSX fans dry out. In the last 5-10 yrs, Acura has dwindled from a performance showcase to a 2nd tier luxury car brand. Now, Acura doesn't even make the RSX/Integra but focuses on mediocre sedans like TSX and SUVs like RDX/MDX. Perfect example of poor vision.
No sense comparing modified cars since it's all over the place IMO.

Well you kind of have to, there are not to many stock car's that can keep up with the 911tt on the track.
There is no way in hell that a stock nsx will, like you said it's more compared to the N/A 911 to a tt
Any way it's all fun.

Yeah, still active NSXCA member. I'm mostly in it for the track days.
Shad Huntley (former Comptech guru) now maintains my NSX here in Sacramento. To be competitive, guys are selling their CTSC for custom turbo setups up to 700hp which Shad builds at his new shop.
