Funny, when I am at my home track (Sebring, 17 turns 4 miles long) and someone hasnt been there much I feel that I am unbeatable no matter what they are driving.
Certainly a new track is an equalizer and would give us a better chance to compare our individual talents (or lack thereof) to each other.
My guess is that sechgang will be fastest and hopefully we can all learn something from each other.
If you are not at the point of 4 wheel drifting the TT through the chicanes or trail braking and rotating the **** around then ya got some things to learn.
I have two turbo guys at my home track that can blow my doors off, so we are all beatable!!

I feel the same way here at RA, the only cars that have beat me have been a 650 RWHP Z06 shop car and 997 Cup Cars that race in Rolex etc. It get redundant after a while, but if I get get to within arms reach of that Z06 which will be early next year, granted he doesnt get that much faster then I'll be happy.

I learned the 4 wheel drift technique at Roebling and it is a very valuable tool in high speed sweepers and the esses at VIR. I would think the local guys would own us pretty good for it being our first time on any track. But it's all good, it shortens the learning curve.

Ill admit...Ive been to VIR and its a HELL of a track to learn...and those rising esses...well...lets say its a place where sliding means youll be sliding...into the wall past oak tree...haha...I can definitely give a few heads up type pointers around a couple areas on that track...but Ive got alot to learn there as well...like getting the turbo's fat *** rotated around oaktree...

No idea. I did one event with Speedventures and it was fun, but I was kind of annoyed at the relative lack of track time. I'll post up when I have one planned. I like Streets and Pahrump.

But I need to sell this f'n Maserati first!! ::rant ***** whine moan::

4 wheel drifing will be your friend here, I know it sounds radical but it's actually the drift that occurs BEFORE loss of traction (for the most part, unless your tires are gone) , you just use it to your advantage, so your car is stable the whole time and a lot of time you can save your tires by using this method and opposed to repeatedly max loading on side of your car. You can also get on the power sooner because instead of your right rear being heavily overloaded and wanting to break traction you have more even weight distribution and can get on the gas quicker. The Turbo has a very fine turning radius and I'm assuming it will be to our advantage to use it at the oak tree with a good drift to get the back end around and get on the power sooner.

I think both of us have different definitions of drifting...I think you are talking about a small degree of rotation coming into the corner...when I think 4 wheel drifting Im thinking of some real powersliding and one probably would not want want to have that going into the uphill esses...but...we can test out both our way and see who comes out faster! From my experience though, and watching many, many others attempt such shennanigans on that section, even slight rotation in the beginning generally results in being about 10 feet off the apex of the final right hander after the esses...the rotation will also scrub speed which really cant be gained while in the esses...prove me wrong though! I cant wait for this!

Squid, if you want huge track time, I can hook you up with Jack Fried's events - track rental for 12 cars. As much track time as you want from 8-5, usually for about $360.00.

Well there must be another level of huge drift that I havent learned yet because I have never heard of that one. In fact I'm new to the concept, I'd rather keep some semblance of traction because once traction is broken completely, its completely broken. You have driven the track before so I'm sure you know better than me what degree of slide is needed, so I'll be eager to learn, may go for a ride with you as well.

The first time you go into the uphill esses, you will absoulutely see what I mean...they are easily 110-115 mph esses and they are one of the only sections of all the tracks I have been to (ok...only like 5-6 different ones but...) that ALWAYS make me pucker up a bit and test out how much cajones Ive got running that lap...that being said, my car is set up to oversteer pretty easily so if your car is set up with a touch of understeer, it may not be as clenching an experience for you...

VIR has got to be one of the most demanding tracks that is moderately accessable and definitely one of the most fun!

PS. Been to Summit Main, Jefferson, Limerock, Laguna Seca, VIR and Pocono Raceway as of now...so saying VIR is the most fun is definitely a worthy statement!

EDIT:After rereading a couple of your last posts, you are DEFINITELY talking about trailbraking(rotating the rear end by modulating the brake pedal) and yes, you use that to your advantage at oaktree and the left/right turns right after the main straight...it will be where those who have it down will WALK away from those who dont use it.

Coastal Drive School is having a day at Laguna Seca in Sept. Great venue to play in your Porsche.
