I was just lurking around and came upon this. If you are talking about the MTI Z06, then it still has around 590whp since I talked to him last(a few days ago). He says that he hopes his new engine(454 LS7) might hit that high though.

No I'm not unless you can trail brake without your foot on the brake. I am talking about a tad more steering input initially to get the rear end moving slighty in perpendicular to direction of travel.

He has had the 454 for some time now, isnt that the motor that's in his world challenge car (C5Z06). But I talk to them all the time and have been told on several occasions that the car has been over 600 rwhp even by Reese himself. My vette lives over there basically so I'm over there all the time. Last I heard the car was a little over 600 rwhp and they were headed for 650 which was the same number that his black C5Z06 which was actually faster made. It had the 454 or something bigger than 427 that went into the world challenge car but I think he blew that motor at Roebling.

haha...Ok, I know the result you want from your car and you will find that if you want to take your foot off of the brake, you wont be able to achieve your desired result...most if not ALL the places you want to be rotated are directly after hard braking...and taking your foot off the brake prematurely or too quickely will result in...uhh...offroad excursions of VIR...and if you let off the brake and give that steering input at the SAME time, youll find more rotation than you want.

why hasnt Tom mentioned anything here!

Like I said, my findings are not related to VIR, but may be applicable in some areas, high speed sweeping corners, decreasing radius corners and esses tend to fall in the same category though. I cant say what applies where though becasue I have never driven the track. My car is pretty nuetral as well so snap oversteer, pushing an the like have been all but eliminated. But from the racing I have seen the high speed esses have been taken exactly as I have said with 4 wheel drifting, of course these are race cars and lighter and more nimble than a street car so the affect would be quite a bit less. The oak tree isnt a fast enough turn to get into much drifting etc, that's how people always end up dropping wheels there, similar to turn 7 at RA.

Definitely true...The difference with VIRs rising esses are that two of the apexes are on hills and that extra slide will just slow you down and throw you off line...that being said, you may be correcting for your setup and thats just how you have to do it...personally, when I hit those guys at 110-115...any bit of slide is particularly unnerving...but in a sense, you do late apex every one and the transition can sometimes produce a bit of that slide...and youll hit oaktree fast enough to get big rotation under braking once your confidence level builds up (first time you go there, you find yourself accelerating to the "turn in" for the last section of the oaktree...you then start pushing the braking zone nearly to the point where that cone is where you let up off the brakes to get the the trail brake rotation I was talking about.

He had a 434 in the WC car. It was the same motor that was in the C5. It made like 620 or something close to that before it blew up.Both the C6 and WC car are getting 454s but they aren't done yet.

But enough about them. Panoz had a track event this weekend didn't they? How did it go?

It was so-so. I missed the best day which was saturday. There were three 997 GT3's and an RS running and they were very fast, also several Z06's that were fast as well. It was sunny, track temp was good, looked like lots of fun. But I had to attend a wedding that morning and didnt run because I didnt get there until 2:30 or so.

On sunday it had rain overnight so the track was moist, I reversed my hoosiers to get some more life out of them and couldnt stop very well at all. I did some nice easy 1:38's but couldnt brake for anything until the very end of the day at which point I wasnt using the gators any more because they were like ice, so I didnt get any faster, I think a 1:37 was as fast as I went. The day was overcast and drab all day and I did work on some technique but couldnt find the motivation to push for a really fast lap because there were some guys in group A that didnt belong there AT ALL. About 2 minute plus laps which is driving miss daisy at RA. But it was ok I guess, just wasnt one of my best days.
