I too have enjoyed the debate. We've both made some good points, in my opinion. We obviously have differing opinions and it's unlikely either of us will change the other's mind. I applaud you for keeping the debate civil without flaming or personal attacks. I can handle the occasional sarcastic jab, and it appears you can too.

Peace and respect.

If cost is no object, your best bet is to install this $400 window tint on your windows and watch the thieves get frustrated. Their arms and tools will break before your window does.

Cool stuff. Years ago I molded lexan windows for a customer who had suffered a break in in which his stereo equippment (a lot of stuff) was stolen. Lexan is tough stuff, but it doesn't hold up well (scratches).

Since we're talking about radar/lidar, I wonder if the film has any metallic content that would mute radar signals, and/or if it is transparent in the IR spectrum (most clear plastics are not).

Another minor benefit that made me want a remote installed unit is the fact that I use my car on the track. During track use (PCA Track Events) you are strongly encouraged and sometimes required to remove all loose items from the interior. Having a custom installed unit is easy. I know, it's not a real big deal to remove a windshield detector and it's mount, but this is one less thing I have to worry about.

Uhg... That's the very question that spawned this long thread.

To summarize (my opinion):
  • Best radar sensitivity: Escort 9500ci
  • Best radar sensitivity in a windshield mount: Valentine One
  • Best False Signal Rejection: Escort 9500ci, 9500ix or 9500i
  • Best Ka Instant On Response: Valentine One
  • Best protection against Radar Detector Detectors: Bel STI Driver, STI-R or Escort 9500ci
  • Best Laser Jammer: Laser Interceptor
  • Best against traffic cameras: Escort 9500ix or 9500ci
  • Best single product: Escort 9500ci
  • Best Value: Valentine One
The ultimate combination, if money were no object: Escort 9500ci + Valentine One (Ka only) + Laser Interceptor

Asking "What's the best radar detector" is no different than asking "What's the best sports car". To each his own. Just like when you bought your car, you need to consider the big picture and how it matches your wants, needs and budget.

so another words, if some one would purchase all three and install would have a very good rate of not being detected?
Escort 9500ci + Valentine One (Ka only) + Laser Interceptor

Well, when you say 'not being detected' are you referring to Radar Detector Detectors that are used in areas where these things are not legal? If so, do not use the V1 in that combination. It can be detected by the Spectre IV RDD.

I have Bel STi and V1, I would say V1 is more sensitive and gives you warning earlier
