^^^i'll bake you a cake in honor of your 3,000th chuck.
and to answer the op's question, i have to agree with chuck. i'd buy a newer car before modding out mine anymore. i've pretty much done everything it that i wanted to do with it anyway. =)

I have to agree with the everyone saying that buying a faster car in the first place if $$$ is no problem..... but if it is that you are very interested in tuning your car this is what I would do.... or basically what I plan to do when I buy my 997TT this week.
1. Go with the best weight reduction first, try to put your car in the best diet posible. Depending on your car there might be a lot of parts made of CF even aero kits, this would help.
2. Upgrade brakes .. probably brembo big brake kit that will posably shed some pounds also
3. Suspension acording to your goals, I want a roadwarrior/track car
By the time you have done this your car has to perform a lot better and depending on the use you have planed for it , now we can look at HP upgrades.
This is my vision on tuning a car since I am a road race type of guy.. don't rush in to upgrade your car, I like going step by step so I can really see the limits of the car and from then on look on where spend my money and appreciate each upgrade....
Hope this helps

If money wasn't an issue then I'd be driving a Murci.
but if I had to keep the 911 then I'd upgrade to bigger turbos and get a set of HRE's.
And probably a 997 front.

I should have clarified better, I meant if say for instance your car caught the eye of a tuner that wanted to sponsor you. And if it was the car you currently own now and you had a money no object build what would you do?

I'll keep my mod'd 01 turbo, go with the big setup first vs multiple stages of expensive upgrades and (especially) the failures. Pay up front to make it stout and reliable such as internals, oil and fuels pumps and of course a special garage to make all the magic happen.
