am running 93octane as pump gas fuel , as well as methanol injection system straight methanol useing 2 big nozzels 550cc each , so all will be 1100cc !!!


i have 2 questions :

1- how much octane does methanol injection will add to my pump gas fuel ?

2- which is better as performance and running high boost 1.7 bar ,, running straight meth or mix with water 50/50 ,, because i read alot about the mixing and there are alot of talke .. so am confuse ...

meth injection is not a substitute for race gas. You can use it to optimize your pump gas performance by lowering your intake air temps.

 

It does raise octane through the roof as well as lower IATs esp post boost injection

 

You probably meant post supercharging.

 

Methanol is roughly 99 AKI (also known as octane in the US). Assuming the meth kit will be spraying at 100% duty cycle, you will be using all 1100cc of 99 octane. Now you need to see which size fuel injectors you are using and what your duty cycle is at certain RPM ranges to see how many cc's of 93 octane you are using. That will give you a basic idea of what the octane rating in your combustion chambers will be.

I ran both 50/50 and 100% meth and saw no difference. I ended up staying 100% to have the extra octane.

 

I have been wondering this myself. I have read that meth can be used in leu of race gas, but I find that hard to believe. I know it works, water injection was proven 60-70 years ago in big radial engines, but seems to be "new tech" for cars. It must not be a direct replacement because I've seen many dyno results with Meth somewhere in-between pump and race gas. Maybe it is as effective, but risky due reliability of the meth system itself? Another pump, solenoids, regulator, etc etc. Maybe due to this potential tuners are a bit skeptical, compared to race gas. I'd like to learn more about it, seems to be a definite help, but also somewhat of an unknown.
