1999 996 to 2002 996 conversion

Hi,

I currently have a 1999 996 C2 and am looking into converting the front end only to the 2002 look. I already have the headlights. Can anyone tell me what else I need to get to complete the conversion along with the estimated costs? I am assuming that I would also need to get the 2002 front bumper. Thanks for any help!

You will need quarter panels too.

Here's my list from the almost done project:

new front bumper and insert(plus brake air duct if for turbo bumper) $600-1300
front fenders $750
headlights $1600
headlight retainers $160
headlights wiring harness $580
side rockers(recommended) $800
rear bumper $800
a good paint job and labor for conversion $2000-2500

estimate around $$$8200 (for my project)
**price based on discounted oem parts**

I have a 99 and have often thought about that project, but seeing the cost just changed my mind. I think I'd be better off trading up.

Seems cheaper to get a 02.
Personally I think am aero 99 would be nicer than the 02 look.

Ebay has a kit for 996 to 997. Seems interesting, but would be a killer on "this and that" parts.

I thought about doing the 996 v.2 front end on my boxster, but then I looked at the perfect paint and glistling litronics and thought "I would be nuts to ruin this!"

Now I have a 996 and share the sentiment. Until I wreck, this front end is staying as-as.

Hi miniporsche,
Im doing the same conversion and got all the necessary parts, my only problem is the headlight wiring harness. How did you connect headlights, did you use 02+ bixenon harness or you somehow connected them using something else.

Dealer tells me left headlight wiring about 400$, and right side is part of passenger side complete wiring harness and is about 7000$, which makes no sense to me.

I would really appreciate if you can help me solve this problem.

I think you need to change the harness, or convert it. The guy who owned my car previously did the swap on mine.
