DIY Headlight bulb replacement on Porsche 996

So, after having my local dealer's service advisor walk me through the process, I figured out how to change the light bulb on my halogen headlights, I figure I want to share the wealth:

Tools Needed:
- 5mm "female" hex socket
- extension rod for socket
- socket wrench
- replacement light bulbs, mine was H7

Process:
The steps I took was:
1) unscrew the plastic tab that holds the carpet to the side in the trunk
2) unplug the rubber round plug
3) stick the 5mm wrench socket into it and slowly turn until you hear a snap
4) keep turning slowly, it will then start pushing the housing out part ways.
5) pull out the housing, and replace the bulb
6) reverse process to reinstall the housing back in the car

I believe the same process applies to Xenon headlights.

Thanks! been meaning to clear out the mini orange bulb that sits in my headlight but was too scared to mess around.

(back in the day with my honda, all you needed as a screwdriver lol)

Porsche 911 Headlamp Tool

Just To add to this post, The Tool you need to change the headlamp bulb is included in your tool kit (Next to your spare wheel).

Might be stating the obvious here, but thought I would anyway!

Simple DIY. I used Sylvania SilverStar® - Headlight
Part # H7STBP. They work just fine. For the most part, use an H7 bulb. Good luck.

It does, to add to the above link, remember the 5mm wrench socket must be turned to the left...i.e, its a left hand thread, it took me all of 5 min to change the bulb, thanks
