My problem living in winter wonderland 4-5 months of the year, is that no vehicle does everything well. Therefore If I can't afford my toy and a vehicle that completes it (and I don't mean a freekin beater, unless you're a summer poser) I just don't have one until I can afford it..

Around here, nobody tracks his/her car in the winter, nor can speed up on the highway given the cold temperature (poor tire adherence) and road conditions. So best choice to me is the new Jeep wrangler. Looks awesome, performs perfectly with the optional AWD on the Sahara, holds its value and best of all, it ages very well. Being in a class of its own, that is my choice. A Toyota Tacoma and Mercedes GL are other great choices..... I'm sure you'll come-up with the best solution for you.

As far as image go, can't speak for where you are from, but people driving ''supercars'' in the winter around here, are seen as having poor judgement, or are posers that can't afford to have another decent car to drive in the winter. There's something about a supercar that is full of salt and road grime that is just...… wrong !! So I don't blame people for thinking that.
Ha-ha, really laying it on the "Poser" thing, huh? Interesting, though, that I posted the OP about five years ago and your response just popped up. I've been through several vehicles since then, as well as having moved from Maryland to Florida. Lots of Vettes and Porsches down here, some Posers among them, too.

Didn't mean you, since I don't know you. I meant the image part which is obviously important to you.. And me.

So while a guy drives is sports car in the winter all proud and feeling like a champ, other motorists might not be looking with envy or taking picture cause they think you're cool like they do in the summer on a nice sunny day . I've seen it on numerous posts on automotive forums, maybe even here. One could very well see that same pic on a forum entitled look guys, I saw that moron driving his whatever in these conditions. Too bad he can't afford a decent car for the winter. See that's what happens when you put all your beans in the same bag... Maybe he should have waited to be able to afford a winter car before buying this thing and now he's up to his neck in debt.

Anyways, not personal at all, so I apologize if it transpired that way.

Cheers.

Apology not necessary, and I didn't feel the comments were directed at me. I was just enjoying the reference to posers. I don't know if I would fall into that category, but I certainly like to own vehicles that not every Tom, Dick, or Harry drives up and down the road. And I wouldn't drive a vehicle that doesn't match my weather conditions. I've owned two Nissan GT-R's in the past while living in the DC area, which does experience Winter driving conditions. However, I had another vehicle serving as my daily driver. On a side note, though, when I first bought my '09 GT-R brand new, for the first year-and-a-half it was my daily driver. Before even driving it off the dealer's lot, I had snow tires put on it. So in addition to that, the vehicle was AWD and had a dedicated snow/ice drive mode. It handled pretty well.

As far as people not looking at a vehicle with envy, the only time I had anyone show any outright contempt was when I briefly (three days!) owned a '17 Lotus Evora 400. I had people at several traffic lights give me the worst looks ever. And a couple of times I had guys with overcompensatingly large pickup trucks park right next to me. You're always going to have haters. Jealousy? Class warfare? Who knows?
