New guy here....

Sooo, I have to have 15 posts to PM a guy to say I want to buy his Elise. So here goes a way to get a few.

The toy is a 2001 Jetta 1.8T. It has had 5 sets of wheels including OEM's, ditched all that, and went for the big turbo.

We made 376whp at 22 psi and 19 deg timing, pump gas.

Somebody talk to me so I can get this going.....

No problem, I do feel I have some tech knowledge to share, great knowledge of 1999 and newer VW/Audis, tweaking and datalogging with OBDII software.

I am shooting for strongest southeast Jetta. That's kind of like winning a contest nobody would want to win, but the performance vs. the perception is amazing.

If anybody needs a hand with Vag-com or diag let me know.

No spammer here, I have more to share than new pictures of wheels I want to buy. Additionally hope to become a frequent member if I can snag that perfect Elise soon.

Welcome, glad to hear that you are not looking to spam this forum.
Don't think you have to have an Elise to be able to post here, I have a Rabbit. Everyone is really cool and respectful. As long as you do the same, you will be fine.
You might want to look at going to a meet with the people in your area

Yeah, I want the Elise for a number of reasons. I was wary at first because I am totally spoiled when it comes to straight line acceleration. I doubt even a supercharged/mild turbo Elise could hold even with the current toy. But, the Elise has a much deeper purpose than to trick folks with uber expensive cars. The Jetta serves only that purpose really, kill off factory sports cars. I have a 1991 Jetta that is my daily driver. It is bone stock and hits 200k miles this week. I will keep that no matter what. I like to keep miles off the toy(s).

The Elise would be a riot to drive, auto-x, great resale value, excellent looks, and I could go on......

I've also looked into a used Porsche 911 turbo. However have seen some nightmarish stories about maintenance and blown motors on setups which have replaced the turbos for larger. (So I say that even though maintenance on a car making 3x original power is quite steep if you do it right, 3k mile synth oil changes, limited slip oil changes, tires, methanol).

If anybody wants to talk me into that instead, go ahead and give me some good feedback. I could afford either the Lotus or the Porsche up front, but would need to control maintenance and performance upgrade costs.

I looked in the events/regional section and didn't see any weekly or monthly meets.

We have 3 different NC meets weekly:

-Winston Salem/Greensboro alternating weeks, Big Shotz Tavern Winston Salem, La Fiesta ? in Greensboro, thursdays
-Raleigh/Cary at Jack Astors, Friday Nights....

I haven't signed up yet, but will be attending EuroRennen. I will also be racing as well. I am searching for a trailer to rent or borrow.
