help importing a vw to US

I had a friend contact me on importing a 2009/2010 VW gas Multivan RHD into the U.S. anyone here that can help? We have someone there that we trust to buy the car. now need to get it on a ship (not hard to figure out) and get it cleared for US smog etc. Ideal would be a Cali legal, but can be AZ if we have too. Anyone in the BIZ or know where to start?
Matt

Not gonna happen. Your only chance is if the same model was built for USA. Anyone who tells you otherwise is breaking the law, full of ****, or both.

Its not just the emissions that you have to satisfy, there are also crash test requirements which may differ from the North American to European standards such as bumpers etc.
