Good driving roads around Las Vegas?

So I'm in Vegas for the summer and I want to go out and explore some of the area's mountain roads but don't really know what's good. Does anybody have some recommendations? Other than checking out the Red Rock scenic drive and hitting up Hoover Dam years back I haven't really left The Strip, so I'd look forward to any drive that gets me out of Sin City for a couple of hours.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but there aren't that many great driving roads around LV. You can do the drive to Valley of Fire, which is about 30 mins north of LV. Also, you can take Lake Mead all the way to the east until it ends and make a right for some winding roads. Also, the LV PCA sometimes do some nice drives like to Death Valley.

Try driving up to Mr. Charleston. Nice drive and once you get to the top its 20 degrees cooler than the Strip and there is a restaurant/cafe at the end of the road for lunch.
