Tirerack Damon, I need advice please

I have a 2009 Tacoma CrewCab Prerunner. Im looking @ new tires on Tirerack website.

Thinking of putting some 265-70-17 Dunlop Rover M/T Maxx traction tires on my stock 17 wheels. Stock tire is 265-65-17.

Will these tires fit my wheels? or do I need different wheels?

Also does "E" load tires make any difference?

thx

The 265/70/17 has an over all diameter of 31.6 and what you have now is 30.6 with the new tires your speedo will say you're doing 60-mph but in reality you'll be doing 58-mph. You'll loose on pick-up.

Yes, they will fit your rim but question is do you really want to do that?

Just figured you should know.....

The tires are just a bit taller, but will fit the truck's stock wheel fine. Above info is correct on pickup. They are heavier also, which may affect braking, too.

The stock tire is a 4 ply standard load tire. "E" load tires are 10 ply and much much stiffer. Not recommended unless you are doing heavy hauling or pulling, or heavy offroading and need that extra construction. They will be awfully harsh otherwise.

Please call me if I can help.

Thank you everybody for the info.

I plan to get a 3" lift as well.

I do some off-roading @ our ranch as well.

From searching online, I found that the tires with most agressive tread pattern are usually 70 series...not many choices in 65 series...
