Has anyone else noticed that the Porsche ALMS sizes are equivalent to a 345/30/19 rear and 315/30/18 front with those fender flares and can be had in the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup for the street? I'm just wondering why anyone with 1000hp Porsches needing maximum dry adhesion hasn't made use of these.

Another odd thing I noticed is that ALMS rear engine cars use the same size front tires as the front engine cars which suggests an advantage for the cars with a lighter nose, so I'm going to an experiment on my Viper keeping the tire height to weight ratio of the rear engine cars with Pirelli Corsa 345/35/19 rear and 325/30/19 front. If my lap times at Limerock are much better I'll post them.

 

Did my final laps for the year last weekend and my times were over 4 seconds faster over the 345/30/19 295/30/18 sizes I ran before. Next year I plan on testing out the P Zero street tire in a 355/25/21. I think the lower profile may make up for the street compound.

Why might you ask I choose such sizes? I looked at the most winning FIA GT, the Saleen S7R and discovered the tires were equivalent to 325/30/20 rear as is on the MC12 production car but 325/30/18 on the front of a mid engine car!
