Forgestar?
All the talk online about wheels has me curious. I've seen recommendations for lots of brands, but the only ones that have multiple owners expressing their satisfaction are OZ and HRE. This unscientific "evidence" leads me to believe that's what I should buy. Problem is that I don't need $6K HRE P40s and the OZ Ultraleggera HLT is not quite the style I prefer. The Vertini Magics and Forgestar F14s in black are the style I'm seeking. I'm hesitant as the only folks saying they are worthy are the dealers selling them.
what are you looking to do with the wheels? If you are looking for high qaulity, race ready, decent looking wheels at a killer price, have you considered CCW? I know they are big in the corvette, supra, viper, etc world. Their customer service is top notch (you sometimes can even talk to john the owner) and there wheels are high quality built to last.
I want a hubcentric monoblock wheel that is a direct bolt on with the appropriate offsets. Need a wheel built for my Porsche. Beyond an occasional DE I do not race my car so weight is not really a concern and forged is overkill. I want to bolt them up and drive the car minus the drama of defects and poor customer service.
I have forgestar on my 5 series and I love it. Pretty strong, I've hit a couple of potholes where I was certain the wheels would have been bent, but nope, they were fine.
Pretty light too, that helps.
Customer service is another story, took me 8 weeks to get it.

Forgestar are not hubcentric (there are hubrings for the Cayman at least)
My stock bolts didn't fit and I had to buy aftermarket bolts
Overall, not a pleasant experience. Wheels also didn't balance without a roadforce balance.

Issues like having to hunt down bolts to fit and difficulty in balancing are exactly what I am trying to avoid. I may end up painting/powder coating my lobsters black.
Appreciate the info!

Bolts are easy to find and Forgestar are very helpful to tell exactly what spec, thread, length you need.
I had no problems balancing the wheels, at all.
Strength is there as well, still perfectly balanced after 500 miles driving on LA poor roads and doing a track day.
Weight on my 12x19" rears are 2.5 lbs more per wheel than a Kinesis 12x18" wheel (which are super light).
