Do tire shops remove old tape on weights when installing new tires? Or, do they just add more weight each time new tires are put on? How can the old weights be removed safely?

 

They remove them. At least any decent installer does. No idea how hard or easy it is< or what magic potion is required though . . .

 

they remove, using a white plastic tool looks like a putty knife.. doesnt scratch rim and removes weight then solvent is used to remove sticky

btw your wheels should have VERY few weights if done properly.. most shops run it over and over adding and adding weights.. if done properly u can cancel out most the weights and barely run any.

btw i have a hunter mounting and balancing machine..because ima wheel *****.

 

Not very many shops will go throught the hassel of removing "all" of the glue.

Most will just remove and re-apply the new ones.....
