911 4x4 Coupe is Ready for the End of the World

There was a time when Porsche cared about rally racing. Eventually their infatuation with winning everything culminated in the dominant 959, but before that, they also built 911s to tackle the Paris to Dakar rally. They were lifted, equipped with all-wheel-drive, the engine from a Carrera 3.2, and kevlar underbody protection. They’re as hardcore as factory Porsches have ever been.

We’re not 100% sure that this is one of those incredibly rare Porsches, but it seems too accurate to be a replica. It was spotted in Hamburg, Germany, so there’s a good chance that it’s the real deal. We couldn’t imagine seeing a rope and pick-axe tied to the outside of a modern Porsche. Nowaday’s we’d be more likely to see the Cayenne tackle the Dakar than the Carrera.
