Bentley’s Continental GT Speed is the Fastest Bentley Ever

There’s always been an innately hilarious, but awesome quality to Bentley’s company ethos of MORE IS BETTER. More luxury, more power, more speed, more status, more everything.

It’s like a big inside joke that translates poetically into their brand, which to me, is pure in its pursuit to capture a demographic of high end ballers. Drivers who generally just want to look good while cruising, with the occasional 60-100 mph hammerstomp to fly by pesky, pace-happy soccer moms in their X5’s.

We know Bentley makes cars heavier than Nimitz-class aircraft carriers. We know they’re not particularly stunning track performers. We’re okay with all that. We get it. So I’m okay when we get announcements, direct from Benteley, proudly claiming to build their fastest production car ever. How much faster? Try one mph.

It’s still an undeniably quick car though: 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds, 0-100mph in 9.0 seconds. Top speed, 206mph (the current Continental Speed only musters 205).

I’m okay with the gimmicky “Speed” badges made of chrome, red brake calipers, and “candy red” color option. A little garish, but in line with their corporate intent.

The Continental GT Speed will deliver more, and better to potential buyers with:

  • Upgraded 6.0L twin-turbo W12 with 616bhp/607tq
  • Top speed of 206mph
  • Lowered and stiffer chassis
  • New flourishes including: front splitter, side skirts, rear diffuser, darker tint on 21-inch wheels
  • Upgraded headlights and tail lights
