Saleen Officially Developing New Super Car

Remember the Saleen S5S Raptor concept car that debuted at the 2008 New York Auto Show? It was supposed to be a smaller and less-expensive version of the Saleen S7. With a 650-horsepower supercharged 5.0L V8, it would have been a great production car. In fact, it was scheduled to go into production in 2010 at a price less than $200,000, but when Steve Saleen left the company, the S5S Raptor production plans were shelved… Until now.

Within two years, expect to “ooh” and “aah” at Saleen’s newest supercar. Saleen told Motor Trend that his next project would continue the S5S’s development. The final product will end up competing with exotics like the Ferrari 458 Italia and the McLaren MP4-12C. Life now feels more complete knowing that we Americans will have an entrant in the supercar wars.
