Sports Exhaust for Base Model
#3
Yes I have it, i couldn't buy another car without it, makes driving the car an even better experience. I have noticed that it has more 'overrun' noise in sport+ than normal more, no idea if there are any formal recognition of this.

I thought it was a stupid waste of money to buy something to make the car sound louder. So I did not factory order this part. I soon discovered it makes the engine sound better and enhances the driving experience. I added it My wife and I recently ate at a local country inn. As I was parking my the door of the inn opened. The owner came out smiling and said "ahhh, the sound of a Porsche flat six, nothing like it." He is Porsche owner and he is correct. The sound is unique.

There are lots of posts about adding it on. Have NEVER heard of anyone not liking it. It's definitely the perfect sound/tone. Some aftermarket ones can get a little aggressive and sound a little too much in my opinion.
It's a 911. Let it breath and growl. It's not a 3 series BMW.

You should find a car at your dealer that has it and take it for a ride. I have factory PSE and would say 99% of the time I have it off. In my opinion it still has a drone to it. I would not buy it again.

As stated, best thing is to try it out. Everyone has different tastes. If using it for a daily driver, I could see times you wouldn't always want it on for some people. It's great to be able to turn it on/off with a button.

can anyone confirm?

All 991's have three mufflers. Center and one one each side behind rear wheels.
For standard exhaust:
For the S model, the two side ones are different than the base model.
For Sport exhaust:
For Sport Exhaust, only the center muffler gets switched out on the S model, but all 3 get switched out on the base 991.
The PSE opens up and is "on" after a certain RPM anyway whether button is on/off. Only at lower RPM's and normal driving are the dampers closed in the button "off" position.
In the button "on" position the exhaust dampers are open at all driving speeds and louder.
Back to the question, the sport exhaust is probably a little louder than the base even in the "off" mode at low speeds because they are different mufflers. Not by much I assume.

Seems like there are a couple after market exhausts with valves for the base that would not change the fender mufflers so they might not be as loud or drone. Some have wireless actuation available and they are cheaper than adding PSE to your base.

Get a Europipe aftermarket exhaust. Better made, lighter and better sound. The PSE is nothing but a sound enhancer, A Europipe is a true flow through exhaust that is going let you engine breathe better and thats the purpose of an exhaust.
