Just wanted to share with you guys...

I found a place in NY called Mech-Tronic that is one of the few distributors for Bosch Motorsports, they have the Bosch Motorsport 5 bar FPRs in stock and they charge $110 plus actual shipping. They only do COD.

110$ for an OEM 5 Bar FPR is very cheap, for comparison AWE charges 180 and FVD charges 290 for the same unit.

Mine should be here tommorow.

This time last year, wholesale cost was well over $200 unless you were buying volume. This is a relatively recent change in price and the industry hasn't caught up just yet.

 

yeah i didn't realize that i couldn't post where i bought something at a good deal. people refer to ebay all the time

i was just trying to share info with members.

sometimes i think that i would rather pay monthly to use a forum then to have a free "public" forum being ran as a "censored private forum"

 

The place I bought it from sold it for 110 plus S&H since at least June of 2008. From what I was told they deal with race teams and don't even take credit cards. My FPR actually came in today and I ordered yesterday and paid for ground shipping. Total delivered was $127.67.

I just did a Google search on 5 bar fpr and it sent me to - of all things - a board sponsor - Titan Motorsports. The 5 bar fpr is $99! Am I looking at the wrong part?

 

yes you are missing the fact that.... that is not a Bosch Motorsports 5 bar fpr. it is 3 or 3.8 bar fpr that has been modified (by crushing or otherwise) to become a 5 bar. some sources say that modified/crushed fprs do not ramp fuel pressure as fast as a on original 5 bar unit. i have also seen this theory tested a while ago on vw/audi forums which use same bosch FPRs as Porsche.

no problem. from what i have seen - people do use both. main reason for using crushed/modified units was the price of the Bosch Motorsports one used to be very high $250 as compared to $100 of a modified unit.

from several recommendations here and outside of the forum i went with the bosch motorosports 5 bar for ~$25 more from the source i found on audi forums.

Just went and got one of these from Sakata Motorsports in Anaheim. Great local place, genuine Bosch Motorsport part. Cost just above $120.

 

Nice man. Sakata is also an official Bosch Motorsports distributor. That is why their price is basically the same as the place I used on the east coast. Did you deal with Brian there?
