Want to build a high HP fuel system? Here is how...

Before I go into teh details, I want to thank my friends Tim (Tim941NYC) and Binh (m3ntal) for all the help with the fuel system project as well as Mike @ T3 for helping source source FueLab stuff. Tim is a beast and can make anything happen when it comes to PCars. Without him this wouldn't have happened and Binh did all the research on surge tanks and found what I feel like the nicest surgetank setup on the market. I in turn designed the system and got together with the guys at Fuel Injector Clinic to supply us with some awesome high impedence 2150cc injectors with plug and play wiring adapters. Tony @ EPL is working his magic on the tuning end of things.

On to the good stuff. Here is a short rundown of how the system works. Stock intank pump remains intact and feeds the surge tank, from there the 2 Bosch 044s pickup and push through two FueLab fuel filter and join into a -8 AN line that runs to the back. Here is where we made a lot of changes and improvements. Stock 996tt fuel system feeds one rail through the other which will inevitably cause unequal distribution and pressure between injectors, especially the last one. We split out -8 AN line into two -6 AN and fed each rail separately, each rail has a return to a FueLab FPR. To do this we used two driver side rails and some custom welded fittings. From the FPR we ran a -6 AN line back to teh surge tank to keep it full and another vent/overflow line back to the stock location in the stock tank.

This can do pump, race gas or E85 safely. Hose is NHRA approved pushlock Aeroquip hose with fire jacket protection.

Thats what it was meant to do with the 2150cc injectors

Cost can vary based on what surge tank, fuel pump, filters, regulator, hose and fitting quality you used.

Radium Surge tank with 2 044s. 1040$
Fuel Injector Clinic 2150cc Injectors 1170$ w/ plug and play connectors 65$
FueLab FPR, 2 filters, Pressure gauge 360$
Hoses and Fittings 400$

About $3k in total. Its not cheap but this using all top of the line parts etc...

3k is about what the other are going for also , but im not exactly sure what components are used. i think chris Green has a nice system also that he sells.

and instal is about another 1.5k ?

yeah like i said price can vary ALOT based on what route you take. the Boost Logic system is listed at 4.5$k on vivid racing and that does not say it includes injectors. so add another 1-1.5k for good ones for E85.

USP has a proven system too that i believe is 4.5k installed plus shipping the car there. i am not sure what size/brand injectors they use, I believe 1100cc - i may be wrong though. I know they are not 2000s for sure.

i have not seen Proto use surge tanks, they usually run the 2 in-tank pump design. so that eliminates the 640$ this surge tank costs alone. i also do not know if they feed each rail separately or not, what fuel lines they change, nor do i know what they charge.

this was a "no-corners cut" approach. eveyrthing we bought was

forcefed1 is on a distinguished road
So are you going E85 because then you can run and tune gas only no water injection(assuming you run water injection from the aquamist pump also assuming e85 burns slower like race gas so it resists knock) or because it saves 20$ every time you fill the tank so you will recouperate your money in about 150 tank fulls.

E85 costs less but it has less energy per volume, too, so you wind up using more of it (MPG goes down). Consequently, the cost per mile doesn't change much... definitely not recouping the investment over 150 tanks of gas.

Why do it? Well, the benefit, especially if you have E85 stations near where you live, is that you basically get race gas performance all the time, at pump gas prices (cost per mile).

This is a fuel system designed to support a high output, built-motor configuration.

Its a good setup we ran it on Chris's car for over a year, only problem we had was when one of the 044 went out. We never knew till we were making runs and the car kept going lean on Highboost. After that we installed a fuel pressure gauge, the gauge would show a higher pressure when both fuel pumps were working so we knew.

I got done with my wiring yesterday. I got power from the battery and ran it through an existing boot on the passenger side. I used a 30amp fuse on each line. The power lines are 10 gauge. Everything else is 12 gauge. There are factory grounding bolts in the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions in the trunk area behind the carpet. That made things even easier

Everything soldered and heat shrunk:

Nice little compartment on the passenger side to tuck the relays and wires:

All closed up:

Mark, My hands were not the only ones getting dirty.. Thank you for the kind words. I feel the most impressive part of this build is the size injector running off the 996 dme. I had huge doubts that it would start and drive. I have to say Tony is the man!
