oil filter
I have been reading about "spin on filters". I cant get much info about the original canister filter my 2003 -996 came with. The only place I find info is from business' that sell the adapter for the car. ( I think there might be some bias opinion)

Just wondering if the "spin on" are "better" not just convienient.
If the "spin on " are better , (engine protection) than the cartridge I use now, what spin on it the appropriate one to use?

You have to get tha adapter first there is no direct "spin on" filter to replace the cartridge, the threads are reversed. And they are better because you get better flow rares, no bypass so it's 100% filtering and the filters are better themselves.

From the pictures of the filter, it looks like it is a cartridge that drops in the threaded holder. I assume that you can still cut open the filter to inspect it just as you can do with the standard filter?
