Thumbs up AfterHours Sport Pipes dyno results posted - (vids coming)

Here are my dyno results, stock mufflers on 997 vs AH pipes on 997.
Very pleased with results, definitely confirmed what the "butt dyno" was telling me
Saw similar gain on my 996 and am glad to see the positive performance effect carries over to 997. Nice work Brian!

Dyno testing was done at Church Automotive in San Pedro area, very professional outfit and they do things "by the book", all they do is dyno testing and performance tuning.

Temp in shop was 80.4 degrees, low humidity, all runs done within an hour with car allowed to cool off a bit between the stock pulls and AH pulls.
We did two pulls in each set (two with stock and two with AH pipes). Numbers were same on both pulls with stock and same on both pulls with AH.
Only mods on car for stock and AH pulls were KN intake and RSS plenum.

997 dyno, stock vs. AH pipes:

Here was my 996 run from awhile back, for comparison's sake (stock vs AH pipes):

I want to go back and do a couple of pulls without the RSS plenum, with stock mufflers and with AH pipes to see if there is a diff. If my 997 was pulling 273TQ and 313HP at the wheels with the stock mufflers, I'd like to know if removing the RSS will have impact.

HQ video: (Revving / Drive-off with AH mufflers)

Vid is high-quality, if it stalls / buffers just rewind a bit then let play.

Here is a video closeup of the mufflers:

Got one video up guys:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbU_1kSgbFk&fmt=18 (Revving / Drive-off)

If you have a good internet connection and decent speakers, I highly recommend clicking the "watch in high quality" link under the Youtube volume control as it sounds way better. If it stalls to buffer in HQ mode just rewind a bit.

OK, I finally figured it out. Call me slow . Kurt is the business partner for afterhours LOL. Let me say, this is the first video I've heard that finally sounds like the real thing. Hey, I owned Honda's in the 80's and know what they sound like modded. Lot's of guys enjoy Tubi, AWE, Fabspeed and others, but in every case the online videos didn't sound natural. They sounded tinny, metalic or hollow. Maybe is was the recording equipment. Have no idea. This video sounds great. Will have to hear the pipes in person. This thread is a "gas."

Big_O- I used a Canon Optura 300 DV cam, the mic on it is decent and I typically have pretty good luck with the audio, plus I know my way around the video editing software
If you have good speakers and watch in "high quality", I'd say the vid sounds very close to exact.

This vid is going to AH, Brian really hooked me up with the sport pipes and a few other custom items for my 996 / 997 (bumper mesh, carbon fiber parts, etc), so I offered to make the vids for use on his site.

If you ever are coming up to West LA area shoot me PM for my number- I'll take you for a spin.

The quality of the exhaust really sounds excellent. I will probably consider their mufflers. Are you running stock cats and stock exhaust manifold?

Thanks, it might be too rowdy for some but I like it. Sounds like a sports car now and not like a plush-O euro cruiser
The only mods I've done performance-wise are KN intake, RSS plenum and AH pipes. I will be dynoing the car without the RSS next week, just for comparison's sake.
With the AH pipes, I don't see a real need to mess with aftermarket headers / cats- It's not neccessary.

There are some that will say changing the cats will get more hp. I yanked the resonators off my 540 a long time ago. There is nothing more fun than hearing the engine when the pedal get's slammed .

That exhaust sounds solid and not like a bumble bee *s*.

Yep, I agree- however there is a big diff between a 540 engine and a 997 engine.
The 997 likes some backpressure. So, while you can obtain a few more hp by freeing up the exhaust flow you risk going overboard and losing TQ. not good.
When folks "say" that changing this and that makes an improvement I like to see facts / numbers to go with it. Otherwise it's just chit-chat

Some of the well known aftermarket systems (headers / cats / mufflers) are designed to give improvements and the manufacturers should have performance numbers available.

Kdubb- Brian (owner of AH) was driving my car, it was me shooting the vid- So I don't know where he was shifting at.

They use your existing S tips or aftermarket S tips- Here is a video closeup of the mufflers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AbU_1kSgbFk&fmt=18

I have aftermarket S-style tips on mine. Actually, the stock 997 (non S) oval tips probably won't fit since the outlet pipe of the AH mufflers is larger to fit the S tips.
So, if you have a non-S 997 you'd need to get some S factory / aftermarket tips or take your oval tips to a muffler shop to have them widened.
