Not sure if he's talking about the air/oil separator but it almost sounds like it and it is supposed to be a pretty common thing. Here's how you could tackle it if that's it.. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti..._Separator.htm


But it's on the driver's side. If your noise is coming from the other side it could be something else. Did the shop give you part number for what he thought was bad?

 

See if he's talking about parts like #1 and (assembly) 14 on this diagram...
