PCM2.0 to PCM 3.0?

Is it possible for PCM2.0 switch to PCM 3.0?

It is expensive - I called on it. They are trying to help me figure out what is needed for the conversion - I am just getting info at the moment. Canberk did you read the lowering module thread. ? LOL

I told them about a Ghetto Solution to the loading level..

It is still under warranty until mid-December. Would like to have the dealer install the new PCM 3.0 if possible (understanding that I might have to pay the difference).

If I understand you right mudman2, the difference in cost between 2.0 and 3.0 is $7,500, which is out of the question.

Yeah but thats not the only problem. I am trying to confirm but even if you wanted the PCM 3.0 you won't get able to get it to work without a VIN match. So perhaps no parts department order for it unless it goes out on that particular SUV with the same VIN.

Alpine, How does that work? Unless I am missing something, if the factory installed PCM 3.0 fails, it is impossible to replace it. I guess PCNA is more generous than all of us thought!

If it fails Porsche can reassign it to that VIN only. A Porsche tech is working on a solution but the cost is crazy as some people have mentioned. I will let people know more as I get better information on it. I would rather have the OEM look than aftermarket but not over 3-4K for it and only if I can sell my PCM 2.1

I can't think of a good reason to upgrade to PCM 3.0. It's not worth it. The max I'd pay would be a 1k difference, only if the dealer exchanges it with my current PCM 2.1

It can be done.

It IS possible to retrofit a PCM3 into a 2004-2008 Cayenne.
You only need 2 components: the Actual PCM3 radio and a new 2009 Bose amplifier.

The radio's wiring must be changed (but it's not TOO difficult) and the amplifier's wiring must be changes as well. the fiber optics stay intact.

Any MOST accessories if installed (i.e. CD Changer, NAV Computer) must be removed and optically bypassed as the PCM3 does not work with previous generation accessories.

The PCM3 has built in support for Bluetooth, iPod, Aux Audio and DVD audio. some features need to be activated.

I have a PCM3 in my 2009 Cayenne and everything I just said was verified in a 2008 vehicle.

Note that you also have to code the radio to the VIN Number of your vehicle. Any dealer can do that.

The CAN communication is identical to previous models, so steering wheel controls, parking lights illumination, ign key functions would all work.

I hope this helps;
Moni / NAV-TV

Moni, That was very helpful. Now I need to find a dealer to install under warranty and not charge me the $7500 that mudman predicts.
